fast network switching

hi,

i connect my laptop to two networks, at work and home. the one at work is a shared connection that obtains an IP address automatically. the home connection is a fixed ip DSL connection.

is there a way to configure my win XP computer to autodetect settings (autoswitch) or do i have to go into tcp/ip settings and change from the "obtain IP address automatically" to the grayed out information below each time i come home or go to work?

is there a program or feature that will let me do this quickly and efficiently?

thanks

Under TCP/IP for the given network adapter, take a look at the "Alternate Configuration" tab. This should allow you to specify IP info for when a DHCP server is not available.

thanks ender!

so this will make the system look to dhcp primarily and then bounce to the particular IP info? what if i wanted it the other way around? or woudl they be essentially the same?
