Have P4 1.9, GF2 pro by MSI , 256 rambus 800, abit 711-raid mb, sb x-gamer 5.1, TDK burner(16x-10x-40x), dvd. I am using the 2381 driver and Win 2k pro. My video setting is 1024 x 768 16 bit high color on a View Sonic A70 17in. My AGP is not overclocked; it is at a default setting (causes problems if a overclock).

Problems are when I start a game; during upload it skips and freezes( the video portion of games such a EmpireEarth). Same thing with my Intellimouse (Explorer); It will skip and freeze when I start my system.

A friend thougt It might be a cash setting or perhaps I need more RAM. I do believe my system to be solid however I guess it could be tweeked. Just dont know.

Dont know if it will help or if youve tried it but maybe try at 32 bit color. I play a game that does that at startup on 16 bit color. Good luck.

Make sure to upadate all your games. Win I installed XP on this machine Deus Ex would not even run. Once I got the update it ran great!

Sence you are running win2k you really need to make sure you have all the updates for your games and OS

Firstly, update your BIOS. Unfortunately, ABIT's website does not list your motherboard, so consult your mobo manual and go here http://www.abit-usa.com/eng/download/bios/main.htm

Secondly, install your motherboard drivers, which, once you've indentified your correct motherboard model should be available at http://www.abit-usa.com/eng/download/driver/main.htm

Thirdly, install the latest version of DirectX (8.1) @ http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000pro/Update/8.1/NT5/EN-US/DX81NTeng.exe

Finally, install the latest videocard drivers @ ftp://205.158.109.140/Windows/28.32/28.32_winxp.exe and sound drivers @ http://www.americas.creative.com/creative/drivers/sbpci/SBLiveXPDrvUpdate.exe

Also, since it may be Empire Earth itself, download the latest patch at ftp3.sierra.com/pub/patches/pc/ee_1000-1040_en.exe

Also, it may help to download the latest Intellimouse drivers @ http://download.microsoft.com/download/intellimouseex/Install/4.01/NT5XP/EN-US/IP4_0EngNoMsi.exe

Phew, good luck 🙂
