Fast Long Distance Hard Drives

I am looking for a fast external disk drive setup. A gigabit ethernet based hard drive enclosure that I can put anywhere on my network would be ideal. USB access time is not fast enough for streaming security cam video to. I want a remote system so video can be backed up in a safe location. There is no point in having a nice security system if someone breaks in and steals the computer and the evidence is gone. The external gigabit based systems I have seen cost more than my security system.
