Did a search on it and didn't find any so if this is a repost sorry 😛

i'm on pg.5 it's a book i'm supposed to read for my english class (not gonna get one this semester since all classes are full but oh well) and this book is such a POS! the introduction links mcdonalds to the franchaise chain of other industry... etc etc.

has anyone read this book?

Example? I hav'nt read it but I'm sure it points out how eating that heart attack diet is bad for you. Some people need a book you know.

in the middle of reading the book...

I like how it goes behind the scenes into every aspect of the industry and explores its dark underbelly..

Um, you're on page 5 on you already think its a biased POS? That just shows you're biased too. IMO it was a very interesting read. I think you should finish it before commenting on it.

Agreed...it blasts more the business tactics than the nutritional content of the food. Esp. how the avg. farmer/rancher is being annihilated by mega corps who don't give squat about voluntary recalls when tainted meat is found.

I read it and I like it a lot. Maybe you should set aside your own biases before reading it and calling it a POS.

Fast Food Nation-what a biased POS book

Uh, books typically are supposed to be biased, aren't they? (unless we're talking about an encyclopedia or other reference book.) Fast Food Nation does have a distinct liberal slant, but addresses some very good issues about the industry. I suggest you read past page 5 before coming to any conclusions...

i read it for my ethics class, and i thought it was a wonderful book...i didn't think it was biased, it just showed you what goes on behind the scenes

Is this the book by Eric Schlosser? Bleh....read a selection from that book for my expository writing class. I think I ended up with a C for the 6 page paper I wrote on it.

Memories of expos.... 🙁:disgust:

it's a prerequisite to read this book I think, I didn't find out until my friends told me about it.

the author wrote how fastfood started the big chains and corporate world and killing small businesses which I find really untrue. His way of trying to blame everything to fastfood is really stupid IMO. I'm on page 10 but I'll finish the book and see what he has to say against how the fastfood industry brought corruption to America.

As I thought, fastfood nation isn't just a book about fastfood

Why is this book assigned reading in an English Class? Is it a novel?

It is theoretical non-fiction. While content-wise it's not a textbook on sentence structure, I can see how it would fit. It is a very keen example of a specific writing style. (Expository I think?).
