Fast CPUs backwards compatible with slower mobos?

I have a 100 mhz FSB machine with a P3 600 mhz that I'd like to upgrade to 1ghz or higher. Problem is, the 1 ghz P3 CPU I saw has an FSB of 133. Will it work?

Also, how can you determine what mobo you have with software?
 
google CPU-ID /CPU-Z
also check out Everest Home Edition... I have found it to be a very comprehensive piece of identification software.... It will tell you just about everything
