I saw this as an infomercial and thought it sounded pretty good. But you DON"T HAVE TO EXERCISE? Have any of you guys bought this or heard anything about it? Im really curious and think its a good buy.

There has to be some crediblity to it, because Physical Therapists use something similar when they are rehabilitating patients. What do u guys think? Should I buy it or is it another one of those scams? I'll even post pics if it works!!! HAHA, just kidding....

Technically, these electrical muscle stimulators work, but for $40 you're not going to get one that will do you any good. I'll go out on a (very short) limb and say that it is out and out junk.

A real machine that works costs thousands of dollars.

I'd bet my left eyeball that the male model in that web site didn't get that way with that device.

Just becase something is used by physical therapists does not mean a healthy person should use it.

If you want to get fit all that will work is:

1) Excercise
2) Diet

That's it. If it was easy everbody would be fit. No pain no gain. If you really want to throw some money away I'll send you my address and you can send a check.

While the concept might work, I seriously doubt that there is enough quality in that thing, at $40, to last long enough to do any good. It's just too easy....sit around and eat twinkies, and electo massage away all the fat. Uh, I don't think so. ;) You still gotta metabolize and burn fat to lose weight. I wonder how they can get away with this blatant false advertising and not have been shut down?

All the chubbies that bought it are too embarrassed to admit it.

There is no such thing as a 'miracle cure' to losing weight. The only way to get into shape is to exercise and stop eating Big Macs every day.

You don't even need to exercise that much. Over 1 1/2 years, I lost 70 lbs just by riding my bike to work, running for 20 minutes every 2nd day, and doing a few pushups and situps each night before I went to bed (excluding the nights I went out to the bars and got hammered :)). Add to that the fact that I stopped eating fast food every day (I still had it every once and a while, just not every day) and basically quit drinking coke/pepsi.

Its not hard really, but it does take some time.

bottom line...

none of those ab machines are going to give you tight abs without a total exercise routine. You need to consistently exercise your whole body in addition to using those crappy machines... ie:lifting, running, swimming...
those machine will workout your abs... but I garuntee you won't see results less your whole body gets a workout.

a well balanced diet helps as well...

the only way to get in shape is hardwork and commitment... this information is nothing new...

also.. many people can't get six packs no matter how are they work!! its partly genetic how easily you can get a six pack...

Speaking from experience, it's a hell of alot easier to get a spare tire, than it is to get a six pack. ;)

Thanks guys,,,,,I know I won't have "Janet Jackson abs" if I use this thing, but it has to have some effect, however little it may be.

I'm just saying maybe this would be a good thing in addition to exercise, when you're just watching tv or doing stuff around the house,,,couldn't hurt, right? I don't mean this should be done in place of situps, walking, etc.

I'm a proponent of the pedal cycle power scheme, where the damn tv won't work, unless you're excersising. :) Think of the good that would do.

can't hurt... those machines definitely will give an ab workout... and it will be better than just sitting there watching TV. Just remember those machines aren't the all powerful answer to beautiful abs...

if you get a machine, you should incorporate it into a larger workout...

I've not bothered to click on that link. But if its one of the it will give a work out. I don't know how strong it is but it will work your abbs out. But thats NOT the problem. The problem with all of these machines is that they DO NOT HELP much to burn the *FAT* off your abb area. If you had less fat around the abb area it makes your abbs stick out and appear to be *that* much bigger and more toned. And for that its good exercise and good diet.

Also the fat is also HARD to burn off unless you are strict with yourself. The fat there just doens't seem to go away dam it!!!. Also ifd your older its going to be harder.....so start young:)

No. It is junk. Do not buy it.

For $40 there is no way this device can generate enough power to give your abs any sort of "workout"

That $40 would be better spent on a set of Abs of Steel tapes. At least those do *something*.

My friend's mom bought all these health gizmos in Korea, and one of them was an electric pad very similar to the one advertised. I think it was supposed to be used for message, but the thing hurt like hell :p

Contracting one's abs by means of electrical stimulation does nothing to promote bodyfat loss. Bodyfat loss comes from increasing one's metabolism through proper diet and exercise. Electrical stimualtion does not have any resistance, thus there is no positive stress on the muscles. Without resistance, the muscles have no reason to increase in strength, thus the caloric expenditure by the muscles in work is minimum.

Physical therapists use similar products to promote blood flow in areas of the body where tissue is inactive, tight, or inflamed. It does absolutely nothing for weight loss - except in your wallet.

I would stick to good old diet and exercise. Can't beat a combo like that. Plus, you feel better after you exercise.

this is very true...
crunches and situps all are good for strengthening your abs... however, when it comes down to it... its how much fat you have on your body the will determine if you have a six pack or not... I know plently of people that don't work out very much, however due to their body type, they can easily achieve a six pack simply because they are skinny and have genetically high metabolism to burn fat. While other people, no matter how many crunches they do or how stong their abs are will never achieve a six pack, just because they can never lower their body fat to the right percentage.

In the end though... it is more important to have strong abs than have a six pack... so everybody continue to do crunches as usual!

Yep it's almost entirely bodyfat. In the past I've worked my abs hard with no benefit and at other times not bothered with them at all. For instance now I work out a lot but have not touched my abs in years. They are still similar in size to how they should be compared to the rest of my body. If i can't see them it's because of body fat. I can see them more now because I've lost it. From what I've been able to tell doing crunches doesn't make much of a difference on appearance, though they do help strength. I'm sure they help, but most of whether you can see abs or not is bodyfat.

Listen lazy, get yourself an *ab-roller* aka ab-slider. It too does not require MUCH EXERCISE. If you want abs and your not obese, then this is the perfect thing for ya. Use it 3-4 times a week for ******* 2-3 minutes ******. Within weeks you will lose that gut, beer belly, jelly belly, etc. etc. No need for situps, crunches, and whatnot... get this.
