Well, is it? I want to wear black shoes instead of my usual white "training" shoes and I want to wear white cotton crew socks. I hate dark dress socks because they make my feet sweaty and smelly. But with white cotton crew socks my feet smells like roses at the end of a long work day.

But I remember my junior high gym teacher making fun of a guy who wore black socks with gym shoes and I'm wondering if it the same faux pax to wear white socks with black shoes.

It's fashionably unacceptable to do so, especially at a formal event. My pants have some extra length to them so no one notices if I do have white socks on with black shoes. Quite honestly if it makes you feel better or you prefer it, then do it, screw what other ppl think

You got a bigger problem to worry about than fashion if you smell your own feet at the end of everyday.

If your pants are long enough so when you sit down, your socks do not show, then yes it's ok. It's like say "Can I where pink boxers with my business suit?" Of course you can. No one will see them. If your pants are a nice perfect length, then no..... wear colored socks.

where are you going? what are you doing?

all depends on the situation. if it's to school, you'll probably get away with it. if it's to work or something formal, go for the black socks. but ideally you should wear black socks with black shoes. also, the black shoes will probably rub off on to your white socks, leaving lovely black streaks.

Try black cotton crew socks if you afraid of what other might think about you wear.

If you're feet smells wearing dark socks try this.

Wear a pair of black socks over white socks.

Of course the white ones should be thin and cotton

and your feet will not smell yukkie!

A lot of the guys at work does this and it does work. ;)

They sell black tube socks. Much better, cuz then you get the best of both worlds, no fashion worries and comfortable. Just don't wear the black ones with shorts, looks dorky... well, if you are a pale white guy like me.

When I am in the corp. office, dress code is buisiness casual. That means appropriate colored socks.

When I am working in the field, I wear black twill pants, black leather work shoes, and white socks.

What's wrong with black socks with gym shoes?? I wear this all the time when I'm in gym.

But sure it's strange, funny and "villain":) to wear white socks in black shoes. Ok it's no big deal if you wear this in gym, but walking around (on street) with this combination ...

* laughing out loud * :)

But If you don't bother about others opinion... do it :).
