In Orange County....

Teachers in Orange County, Florida are being told to scrape rainbow stickers off doors and windows, take photos of their families off their desks if they have a same-sex spouse, and are being directed to report if a student comes out as LGBTQ, as Governor Ron DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" law goes into effect July 1, according to a teachers' organization.

Attorneys for the district held meetings with administrators last week, and "advised principals what behaviors would and would not be legal under the law during a 'Camp Legal' presentation," ABC affiliate WFTV reports.

The Orange County Teachers' Association (CTA) says teachers are also being told they cannot wear rainbows on their clothing, "including lanyards distributed by the district last year." Elementary school teachers are also being told to not even discuss their families if they have a same-sex spouse.

Stickers denoting a particular classroom is a "safe space" for LGBTQ students and others are to be removed, and "teachers will have to report to parents if a student 'comes out' to them and they must use pronouns assigned at birth, regardless of what the parents allow, the CTA reported."

Some gays and lesbians have been leaning republican and conservative in the past few years. Hillary turned them off and economic issues / advances turned them on to republican ideologies. After all, most gays are well educated, upper middle class, and high wage earners with two adults in the household as employed. This trend, this realignment happened because most gays and lesbians had believed all of those anti gay social issues had been settled, had been put to bed, so it was now safe to be a republican. Well guess what guys and gals, you were wrong. Its not safe, not safe at all.
If you thought the republican party was the party for you, think again. Stonewall is once again coming to a neighborhood near you. All of those battles that you have won are back on the table to be challenged and taken away. Enjoy....

Not that I think SCOTUS won't reverse Bostock eventually (or like require all gay people to be herded into camps) but this is presently quite problematic legally.

take photos of their families off their desks if they have a same-sex spouse

Your perception of "most gays" is a bit different than mine.

Asking to take pictures off the desk if they are same sex? If I was a male teacher I'd be hitting up every male friend I had and getting a selfie of a giant bro-hug. Print those off en mass and stick em everywhere.

You want to call liberals snowflakes? Fucking hell. Conservatives wet the bed at the *thought* of someone being happy.

Pictures of Bert and Ernie. Thousands of them, scattered like leaflets over Vietnam across campus.

It’s common for kids in grades K-3 to draw pictures of their families. I guess that can no longer be allowed because a family might have 2 mommies

Fascist theocracy is here in full force. Just like Republicans call every Democrat a socialist Dems need to call every Republican a theocratic fascist.

In the spirit of "if my opponent continues to tell lies about me, I will continue to tell the truth about them"?

(Which, funnily enough, seems to stem from a line originally said by Republicans about Democrats)

Wonder what would happen if someone starts screaming "Gay gay gay gay gay gay ....." in an airport in Florida. An airport is federal grounds so nothing might happen, but then again.

Does that mean total ban of Skittles in Florida schools? Also, kids in K-6 love drawing rainbows because it's colorful. They are going to take that joy away from kids? You don't need a crystal ball to see a lawsuit incoming.

Your attention to detail is truly stunning. This bill affects schools.
I don't think airports are federal ground either.

I was thinking something akin to the Fire Nation schools in Avatar the Last Airbender.

But we are not far from a point where DeSantis would expand the affected areas of the rule.
