But we are not far from a point where DeSantis would expand the affected areas of the rule.
I'm not sure what kind of expansion you're thinking of, but I'm not sure it works the way you think it does.

Since kids talk openly about their gender anyway, this rule is just a method to out and stigmatize trans kids.

Schools in Leon County, Florida, must now notify parents if their child has a gym class with a “student who is open about their gender identity”. The schools must also notify parents if their child is attending an overnight field trip with a “student who is open about their gender identity”.

Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law and ‘critical race theory’ ban are in effect. Teachers brace for ‘straight-up indoctrination’ (yahoo.com)

The theocratic fascist party is in full offense

Is it just me or are there going to be tons of lawsuits about 1st amendment right violations that Florida will obviously lose?

And now that the Progresshevik echo chamber has had it's fun. Time for the party pooper, aka, the truth to show up. LOL! Maybe you can switch back to burning down anti-abortion clinics.

It's also up to the districts about how they implement this, as was the bill's vaguely worded intentions.

You should probably dig through your own links.

In Orange County....

Teachers in Orange County, Florida are being told to scrape rainbow stickers off doors and windows, take photos of their families off their desks if they have a same-sex spouse, and are being directed to report if a student comes out as LGBTQ, as Governor Ron DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" law goes into effect July 1, according to a teachers' organization.

Attorneys for the district held meetings with administrators last week, and "advised principals what behaviors would and would not be legal under the law during a 'Camp Legal' presentation," ABC affiliate WFTV reports.

The Orange County Teachers' Association (CTA) says teachers are also being told they cannot wear rainbows on their clothing, "including lanyards distributed by the district last year." Elementary school teachers are also being told to not even discuss their families if they have a same-sex spouse.

Stickers denoting a particular classroom is a "safe space" for LGBTQ students and others are to be removed, and "teachers will have to report to parents if a student 'comes out' to them and they must use pronouns assigned at birth, regardless of what the parents allow, the CTA reported."
Yeah, kids never liked rainbows until they gays brainwashed then. Also where on a birth certificate does it show the assigned pronouns?

Hopefully teachers start suing.

So you mean the GOP was full of shit when they claimed it was only through third grade?
Many democrats saw the writing on the wall, and where ridiculed when they made claims it was only the beginning and would not stop there. The American people need to take the fucking blinders off and stop supporting the constant erosion of rights in this country, mostly spearheaded by the right.

On another note, every teacher needs to go into class, sit at their desk and not teach a single thing. Because this law, if you want to get technical, makes it almost impossible to teach nearly any subject without some type of gender, gender pronouns, and/or orientation connection. Most foreign languages, with English being one of the few that do not, assign gender pronouns to nearly everything. So, foreign languages are un teachable in Florida.. Even basic English classes will have difficulties if they are to follow the law precisely. No more Mr, Mrs, Miss.. no more he, her, etc.. It's time for malicious compliance to the law!

Oh don't worry, a lot of it is just performative, to get a rise out of us.

These evil people's trajectory has been painfully obvious for some years now. I think a lot of the sane people in regards to values and socio-political positions, are woefully underprepared and totally not ready for what is going to happen because they are clueless about the reality in the world, how fucking evil happens and how many people are complicit when it happens. But if you call it what it is, you might be called hysterical or too mean by the pseudo-intellectuals, who have repeatedly been caught with their pants down in modern history.

Florida has over 5000 teacher vacancy right now. Granted there's 185000 teachers but when you are missing nearly 3%, it puts a lot of pressure on other teachers. There were rumors it was close to 10000. Given FL's track record with numbers it wouldn't surprise me if the numbers were "coaxed" a little.

This Florida county prosecutor literally published their racism rules on how to oppress Hispanics and put it in a fucking manual. Bunch of white men, and finally one decent human joined the office, worked their for 5 days, and blew the whistle on these fascist racist republicans.

I guess Reading Rainbow reruns will be on the chopping block too.

At this point, the GQP has much more in common with the Taliban, Russia, China, Iran, etc than it does with any Western progressive values. The good thing about the conservative train of thought is that it's very consistent and predictable across time and cultures. We know what the end goal is, and how it is achieved. I just hope we can stop it before it gets further entrenched. It's always two steps forward and one step back with these folks.

Are they shooing the kids into an inspection station one by one and making them pull down their pants, taking pictures of their genitalia and uploading to Flowrida's Big Brother Cloud-space? Ron is frowning down on y'all.

Florida looks at the laws Uganda has been passing to harass LGBTQ and says "let's emulate that."
