Fart Food

Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal. Every time I have a nice sized bowl, it's like a fart factory. And not your everyday farts, but ones you would expect from a Farrelly Brothers movie. Be the envy of your buddies! Impress everyone you know. Buy this cereal, and watch the fun ensue.

You do realize that it takes time to digest things, right?

Are you one of those people that when, say.. you eat that Big Mac, and have to sh!t right aftwards.. you think "Wow, that burger just ran right through me!"? 😛

I don't recall mentioning the timing.

You have scientific evidence to back up your claims? Where is your research and proof?
I?m not going to try to, ?Impress everyone I know?, without getting some real data to look at.

Usually, if you eat something and have to sh!t right afterwards, it has to do with the previous meal being forced out.

Had chilli the other night and I let one rip when I was clearing the table and my dad commented, "damn, why do we keep feeding him chilli?" 🙂 As if it could have an effect on that part of my digestive system 10 minutes after I started eating it.

Yeah, no sense in ending up like the ceo of the Burger.

I reluctantly had a bowl of Kashi last night, knowing what the outcome would be. Sure enough, this morning I've expelled a few gallons of gas.

LOL.. Interesting.

Grains do indeed produce gas, but some people have it worse than others, because of their intestinal flora.

Foods do take time to make their way down the digestive tract, but, by observation I have noticed that some foods will stimulate the digestive tract. The intestines have kind of a pulsating rhythm to them, and certain enzymes, bacteria, and fiber will get them dancing.

As far as his gaseous experience - I would guess that he already has the bacteria in his intestines producing larges amounts of gas, but the cereal stimulates his system to the point he removes it much quicker before it has a chance to break down further and/or reabsorb by other waste.

So Rob9874 - the moral of this story - eat that cereal more often, and lay off the foods that are fermented or contain sulfur for awhile.

Protein powder is notorious for this too. Something those of us trying to build muscle are probably all fairly familiar with 😛 I had a friend whose car had a permanent stench to it, but then he was going a bit overboard imo, 4-5 shakes a day.

Beans, Beans the magical fruit,
the more eat, the more you toot.

BTW, drink lots of water with foods that cause gas - like veggies and high protein foods.

protein farts are the worst!

I ate Kashi Go Lean Crunch for the first time the other day. My husband poured a big bowl of it (I'd say that it was probably 2 servings according to the box) and decided after one bite that he didn't like it. Cheapo that I am, I couldn't let this rather expensive cereal go to waste, so I ate the whole bowl. OMG. Words cannot describe the aftermath. It felt exactly like a baby kicking in the last months of pregnancy (and I know how that feels, I've had two kids.)

It's always funny to hear women talk about gas. 😉

Its all about the fiber, baby.

I have been on a high fiber diet for a little over a year now for health reasons. I don't know all the technical details, but basically there is a muscle that is connected to and runs the length of your large intesting. This muscle is flexed and relaxed constantly while you digest foods. Fiber is difficult to digest, so this muscle gets worked overtime. Most of us Americans eat crappy-fiberless foods, so this muscle is generally underdeveloped, which causes it to spasm out of control when it gets hold of something fibery (i.e. irritible bowel syndrome). Eat enough fiber for a long amount of time and this muscle gets into shape - I could probably now eat draino coated razor blades without any noticible side effects.

Burger King (Burgers and Rings). I can eat McDonalds any day of the week and not have any significant change in the frequency or potency of my farts. A few hours after I eat Burger King, things get REALLY rough! It lasts for almost 24 hours. It gets so bad, my cat will even get up and move away from me

OMG. One of my roomates in college was lactose intolerant or something. He never figured out why after 2 bowls of cerial in the morning he'd be ripping @ss until mid-afternoon.

It may take time to digest some things. But I've SEEN people who ... have issues. This stupid kid in HS ... ugh. Everybody hated this kid. Peter Mattson. He was a complete idiot. I mean, moreso than me. Amazing, huh. 😉 Anyway, told everybody he was lactose intolerant and that it had very ill effects on him but nobody believed him because he was a huge liar. So we told him we'd give him a $20 bill if he drank one of those little mini-cartons of milk (just a few ounces, ya know?) so he did. And within a few minutes, he was SPRINTING to the bathroom with a wet ass.

I felt bad.
