farkin' dead battery

I got it jumped... but does the alternator charge the battery while idling or only when the accelerator is depressed ? 30 minutes ought to do it ?

It charges while idling but it's much safer for the battery to just go get a battery charger and leave that on there for a while. But it might charge faster if you drive it around than if you let it idle...

Wow, that's ingenious.

It wouldn't benefit me though since my dead battery comes from a fog light I leave on (4th time in 10 years). And my car is garaged at night on top of that... we need it first thing in the morning.

Just put it in neutral and bounce it off the rev limiter with a cold engine for 15 minutes.

a minute or 2 should be sufficient really, just make sure you drive it around sometime today

rewire the fog light so the cicuit is only powered on when the car is "on".
