I have no idea if its a remake, a continuation or a re-imagining or something that just uses the title.

I do like Billy Bob Thornton so I have hopes it will be good.

The Sarah Palin effect has made the accent too irritating for me to tolerate. There was a time when I really enjoyed that movie.

The series looks to be like an entirely different story line a new pro(an)tangonist and from the previews we don't know if the series is set before, during or after the events in the movie.

In other words there doesn't seem to be any spoilers to be had until after the episodes air.

WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?????????

Has Hollywood really ran out of ideas?

PATHETIC

It's just kind of been an industry trend lately. If something is successful once, you need to make a sequel, and maybe a trilogy, and if it's still successful (read: turns any kind of profit), make more until you've completely driven it into the ground.

The Matrix, Iron Man, Spiderman, Batman, The Expendables, Transformers, Knocked Up + This is 40, The Hangover, Fast and the Furious, X-Men, Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit, Divergent ... after the Hunger Games.

I can keep going if you'd like :(

It's been happening in video games too -- it's sad when you look at a release calendar and every game has a "2" or a "3" at the end.

awesome first episode. i'll definitely be watching the whole series. i love the feel to it and vibe. i'm glad it's not the same story as the movie too. i haven't seen the movie in ages, but i also thought the movie fargo also said it was based on a true story - this one did too at the beginning, but is it really or was that kind of just for the sake of the story?

It is not based on a true story, it is just a dark joke of type "nobody lied about 'true story', let's be first"
Bob Thornton is a great pick for the show, his dark humor fits well.

Is the show meant to be this slow-paced?
(no real high-action scenes..)

(Sorry,I haven't seen the movie version).

ah okay, that is kind of what i thought, just adding more to the dark humor. and i agree, thorton killed it in the first episode.

the movie was pretty similar in style. it was very dialog driven then BAM something would happen, and you would usually laugh a little bit but it was something serious (like someone dying). but keep in mind, the story in the show is different than the movie, although it does have some similarities.

i couldn't help but chuckle when he smashed his wife over the head with a hammer. i thought it was going to be one of those dream sequences where it shows it happen, then goes back to him down there and her bitching at him and it was all in his head, thinking about it. but nope, that wasn't the case.

I find it very difficult to relate to anyone who found that episode slow-paced. Together with the kind of setup necessary to get the audience acclimated to the miniseries, tt contained a lot of action, including some fairly shocking scenes. Did you stumble across it while looking for Transformers 4 or something?
