Warranty expired 2/04

Fortunately for me, I JUST ghosted the OS partition (~10GB)of that drive on Tuesday. Not much data lost from there.

Lost: Games, DVD Rips. (~70GB or so)

Hopefully my little 30GB drive can hold me for a night or two. :/

Now to go find some deals on some >160GB Seagate drives.

NO JACK DONT LEAVE ME NOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hard drive sinks under water fading ever so slowly, while still trying to cling onto the IDE cable*

when i lost my old 36gb harddrive on one of my earlier comp it was one of the saddest days of my life

Let this be a lesson to all. Keep backups frequently. I'm glad I did.

It was still spinning and I can still read everything on it. I have it unplugged until I get another drive though. No need worsen the symptoms until I can save the stuff on it. If it DOES die, I still haven't tried the freezer trick yet 🙂

I feel your pain. I lost many GB of music when my IBM drive died. Outpost.com is having a sale. Can't beat Seagate's 5 year warrenty. I just got 2 300GB for my Tivo.

Dude why does it seem like the text is on top of the screen rather than in it?

Anyway, just go to Fry's and pick up the weekly 160GB Seagate IDE for $58 AR.

Because you can't do screen captures in DOS (it's a bootable floppy) and it's a picture off a digital camera.

I'd love to, but the nearest Fry's is in chicago and that's over 3 hours away. 🙁

Hmmm... I'd help you out by buying it for you but with shipping to you it'd probably cost around $70 (well-packaged) and I'm sure you can find a better deal online.

I still have 3 Seagate drives ranging from 10-20GB still chugging along. Those things are real troopers.

This is my first Maxtor drive to fail out of about 8. It may still be salvageable I don't know yet.

I've not had a very good record with Western Digital (4 dead out of 7). :|

Thanks anyway 🙂

Question though:

Seagate 120GB for $104 shipped @ Newegg

Seagate 200GB for $106 shipped @ Newegg

😕

That is truly a sad sight.

I've got a 40GB drive sitting right on my desk and I haven't installed it to backup my stuff. I'm so lazy. What's worse is my HD is the infamous IBM GXP 75.
