Farcry

I just reinstalled Farcry, did the update patches (1.13 to 1.31 to 1.32 to 1.33) and then cracked the 1.33 patch (latest one I had the crack for) so I don?t have to use the CD (I dislike using cd's to play games with a passion... WoW, HL2/CS and UT2K4 spoiled me.)

I set all the settings all the way up and noticed when the guy walks around in the menu he was going unnaturally fast. I then start the game and it too runs way too fast. All you have to do is tap the forward key and you zip halfway across the room.

Also, the cut scene near the beginning where the two guys are talking runs fast. They move and make their gestures fast but they don't talk fast... then it cuts off the speech when the movements are done.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I moved from an Athlon XP 2800+ and 9600Pro to the setup below. Could it be Farcry has problems with dual core? I haven?t seen this before.

Thanks for the help!!

The only thing I can think of is the dual core.
I have a single core system but overall its more powerful than yours, (not bragging, just trying to help troubleshoot).

I dont have any speed problems. It just renders as fast as possible.
If it is a dual core issue than you're out of luck. The 1.33 is the latest official patch. If somebody is making independant patches you could try looking into that.

Incidentally, did you try running with the official 1.33 patch just to see how it works? I have found that a lot of NoCD patches can mess things up, Far Cry in particular. I get all kinds of corupted textures with any of the hacked patches, 1.0 through 1.33.

Yeah, there are a lot of single cores that are more powerfull for gaming ;) no offense taken.

I googled and found a couple of sites talking about this problem and it seemed the issue was mostly tied to either cool & quiet or win xp 64bit. (I am running XP 32bit)

I will probably reinstall the game and try it without patches or cracks and see if it works that way.

Thanks! :)

You need to uninstall the patches in the order that you installed them, then uninstall the game.

Reinstall and patch from vanilla 1.1 to 1.3.

Then patch to 1.33

The 1.3 and 1.33 patches are the only ones that are needed to run the game properly. Any others will mess it up, especially 1.32 which was officially recalled by UBI Soft.

Would it be possible for you to please re-verify that?

I had thought that we also need patch 1.31. (1.3, 1.31 and 1.33)

Than you.

Nope. You can go from 1.3 straight to 1.33. Though the game actually runs OK for me with the 1.0 and the 1.1.

Does anyone have locations where I can download these patches?

Gamespot only has patches for one patch to the next, not patches that can jump (like 1.3 to 1.33). Does that make sense?

No, No, No. You can just install the 1.1, then the 1.3, then the 1.33. You dont need anything else in between.

Those other little patches were superceded.
I would LIKE them to make a big 1.33 patch and end the nonsense, but so far its no dice.

You can download them from the far left window of the Far Cry website.
