I know of no place that will accept refunds on open software. They'll do an exchange if the one you have is defective.

no.

BTW, it took me a little while to get used to Far Cry's playstyle.
To say it was worth it would be an understatement.
It becomes natural, and don't forget you have a HUGE map to work with in most cases. (think creatively)

I'm truly jealous of you, experiencing the game for the first time.

and jtvang, you're nearly my doppleganger, system-wise.

uhh. I dont know how im supposed to take this. LoL

You're supposed to take it like it sounds... If a game is 'hard' that doesnt make it bad. Try giving old school or new school Ninja Gaiden a try. Phenominal games, insanely difficult.

I might just download the demo to far cry again, and give it a shot. Last time it didn't play to well on my comp, but now that i've build a new one...things just might be different.

Far Cry *is* hard once you start encountering the mutants or whatever they're called. You have to proceed slowly, take advantage of cover. Try to engage only one at a time, backpedal a lot. Dodge. Sweat. Curse. I was totally owned by those badguys at first. You get better as you go. Definitely keep trying. Take a break and play some Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3.

FarCry calls for using tactics and cover, not just mindless run-&-gun. You can do it, you just may not like how slow it goes when you do.

werd, if played correctly with high fps the game becomes really enjoyable. But right now I'm stuck at a level and it's pissing me off. :frown:

Farcry is hard and one small mistake can get you owned in it.

What I can't get past are the rocket mutants. mercenaries are a piece of cake, the jumping apes aren't that bad, the invisible ones were a pain, but doable, I just can't take the rocket guys.

I eventually had to do godmode to get past the volcano. It doens't matter how I take one on, even if I sprint to avoid the rockets, splash damage will always hit me. and I can't take one of them out faster than they can get 2 to 3 shots off.

the only way I could take out one of them without suffer some damage is to snipe from far away, and sometimes that just isn't an option

FARCRY was easy. I finished the game in 3 session and the last 4 levels i finished without dieing , expect for the final boss ;( he was hard to get too. I liked the game but i liked Far Cry Instincts more. Farcry Instincts has a better story line to gameplay to island feeling. I wish it was released on PC too ;( .

They have to take it back by law. Tell them you dont agree to the software license and werent made aware of the conditions of the purchase agreement prior to opening the box. Even on the agreement I guarantee it says to take the software back if you dont agree to the license.

On the volcano level, I crouched in the nook in the elevator doorway where the level begins, and scoped my assault rifle and kept shooting the idiots in the arm. They couldn't see me, so they didn't fight back. Takes a lot of ammo, though.

Not satisfied with that gimme victory, I replayed and simply got out the ol' artillery chaingun and shot them all in the head until they died, moving enough to avoid their rocket fire (mostly). On the Realistic difficulty. Not exactly easy, but you can do it. And that is mindless run-&-gun ;)

Far Cry is such a great game. I agree, it's pretty tough. To avoid being overly frustrated I played on Medium (which is actually the 2nd of 5 settings).

1) patch the game to at least v1.3
2) set the game difficulty to "Easy"
3) install "anytime save" [it's a "hack" search here for it]

if ALL else fails . . .
4) search for "Far Cry Cheats"

:D

it's worth it . . .despite the crappy story, HUGE plot holes, crappy voice acting and stupid cutscenes . . . it has redeeming features that actually make it a "must play"

its only stupidly hard at two points

1. when you have one gun, 5 bullets, middle of nowhere
2. last level, plenty of guns, plenty of ammo, waaay too many monsters and no where to run

The last part is immmmmmmmmmmmmmpossible!!! The part where you are in this crater with 50 angry trigens.

They part before that with some 20 elite mercenaries is pretty tough too. But I killed them all on the 20th attempt :p ...and damn the autosave. It makes it harder.

But I think the difficulty only makes the game more fun

Hard? There are plenty of difficulty settings to choose from. I played through on realistic and didn't have too much trouble. The hardest part for me initially was defending the lady while she armed the nuke. The ending was extremely easy... I sat just inside the doorjam where the fatboys couldn't see me and shot them in the shoulders as they waited by the door. The mercs on the platform can be dispensed with a few good grenade lobs.
