FarCry SP Demo #2 Released - Research Level

I can't connect to get the "research.zip" file.
Does someone have an alternative link or can possibly send me the file via e-mail?

I must admit, awesome game...

BUT...

I have a P4 2.8c w/ Hyperthreading and 800Mhz bus... 1 gig of PC3200 800Mhz RAM, Geforce 4 ti4200 128 Meg... WinXP Pro... and this game is still slow as hell sometimes... Ugh! haha 🙂 Maybe a new video card is next on the list... but sheesh!

AdamSnow: You really need a new video card. That 4200 is a nice budget card these days but you're trying to play the latest and greatest game technology. Can't really expect it to keep up with all the "bells and whistles" in Far Cry.

Schadenfroh: The first demo sucked? Huh? 😕 What demo are you looking at? 😕

Didn't suck for me, and it looks great IMHO.

OMG !! I just played the research level, and I was like WTF?? Another freakin dose of amazing graphics...
I suggest everyone to download it now.
Too bad though that you can't play the whole level, it stops when you get the elevator and reach the upper level.
Can't wait for the full version

sweet can't wait to try it myself but will have to wait till late late tonight or tomorrow. I hope this is official though. I have a mirror of it on my webpage under Game Demos.

and with games like UT2004 able to run on software only, I am skiping this game.

Your loss.

Name one game that has better graphics? BTW I meen a game thats out or a demo.

Just started playing the demo.... this game is awesome! 1700+@2.2, 512ram, 9500pro running game at 1280x1024, med settings (a couple at max) and it is very playable. A few hiccups here and there only after I increased the res. It ran silky smooth at 1024x768. I agree that it's a hog, but what do you expect? State of the art graphics with smooth gameplay= resource hog. Yeah, my system is a slug after playing, but I just run clearmem after playing and that fixes it. Using 3.8 cat's with no issues.

BTW, any word on a release date? I'm thinking of pre-ordering but only if it will be released fairly soon.

How the hell are people with a GF4 going to know what it peforms like...

Strange - the first demo played nicely on a xp2200 with a GF4-4400, but the second stutters like crazy, and the sound is all messed up. I think i'll reinstall and see if that helps

My thread

If I read that right the best system on the market today can't top low 40's for framerate at 1024X768.

I'm serious about the other thread and the fact that this game is too much of a freaking beast. I do feel inclined to buy a new video card, and I realize you have to put the power in if you want the graphics (this game's graphics rule), but I just don't kow if it's ready for primetime yet. It requires too much power. Oh, I see those numbers are just for the demo, since the worst card on there is much better than mine, and I get way more than 8fps.
