First off, yes this a legitimate retail copy! I just picked it up at EB. Anyways, after the full install (5 cds) when launching the game, it gives me the error "please insert the correct cd into the cd drive". I tried putting the play disk into my other drive (dvd) and same error. I attempted to uninstall the game and reinstall and I get "the windows installer could no be accesses"

Anyone else having this problem? Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks in advanced,

Ok, Heres the deal so far:

1 I was unable to find a solution to get the game running.
2 I decided to uninstall the game and reinstall off my other optical drive (since flashing the firmware as not an option for a Liteon -no support there).
3 The uninstall option through various means was unsuccessful (game menus, add/remove programs, ect).
4 I deleted (I never do this!) the Farcry dir tree, went through registy and cleaned up all Farcry, ubisoft and Crytek entires.
5 Used Regvac to clean up even more entires
6 Cleaned out temp folders
7 Flashed my DRU-510a to lastest firmware
8 Am reinstalling as we speak.

Tech from UBI told me that the game has compatibility issues with RW drives, especially Liteon drives. DOH!

Hopefull the work I've done will fix the issue mentioned in my previous post.

Have you tried launching the executable from the CD?

I betcha if you checked the official Farcry message board others have reported the same problem.

edit.....looks like my reply was posted within a minute of your second post.....anyway it looks like your on your way to fixing this....let us know your solution.

hooooooo k! Still getting the same error. I have tried laughing the executable from the CD for both the installation and the game. Hrm, I was already over at the UBI forums. I guess I'll go see if i can find anything out over there and see if anything is new.

Goto Gamecopyworld or Megagames and try to find a No-cd patch.

Gotta disable any virtual drives you may have . (ie: clone cd , alcohol120% , etc..)

Or the no-cd crack will work too as mentioned above.

Personally, i'd chose the no-cd crack. ;)

Hmm, now that you mention it, some CD-Protection schemes refuse to run with Virtual Drives present. If you(warcrow) have Virtual drives setup, try disabling them first and see if the game runs.

Good thinking guys. It was b/c of the virtual drive from Alcohol 120. I figured this out about 5 mins after my last post. I've been playing Farcry since. I just have to tell you guys, that game is goddamn incredible!

This is, by far (to date) the best *looking* game I've installed on my computer, and I play everything! Not only does it look amazing, it runs silky smooth. Here are my specs:

MSI K7N
2800XP
1GB Kingston 2700
Radeon 9700 PRO (Cat 4.3)

This is deffinitly the Dark Horse of the year. With the anticipation of HL2 and D3, this game got lost somewhere.

Glad to hear it's working. Ya, Farcry is on my list, but so is Call of Duty still so I'm not sure when I'll get it. :)

Using the no-cd wont hurt at all.
But i did disable my virtual drive in alcohol 120% while i checked that the game install was ok b4 i tried the no-cd one.
(thats how i knew ya had to disable any virtual drives)

But i can see why you're worried, the "cracked" exe is 32kb and the "original" exe is 1.12mb. OUCH!
BIG difference, so i made a folder named "far cry originals" and put the original FarCry.exe and system.cfg files in there for safe keeping while i test and tweak.

I'm using it now , no issues yet through the 1st 5 levels.

And b4 ya ask...YES i'm using the retail 5cd version of the game. ;)

And i see you have 1gb of ram and a similar system.
Those with 512mb of ram seem to have "stutters"

Game plays great here at 1280x1024 .....with very high/ultra high settings. (except shadows, they are on just HIGH)
So im sure youre seeing what i see....some AWESOME visuals. :D

Compatibility issue with Lite-On drives my ass, that's their crap copy protection at work. It was the same deal with their disc juggling of a collection XIII. I don't understand why Europeans get the single DVD version of FC and they leave us having to baby 5 freaking CDs which they expect us not to back up *makes wanking motion* Ubi lost a few of its marbles.

Yea, as I progress, I've had thoughts of HL2 and D3, wondering how their renders would handle this environment. Its amazing, I honestly am blown away! One level (the one, right before treehouse), I couldnt stop walking around looking at the sunset and water....the rocks....the moss on the trees....just...wow.

Am I the only one who wants to keep backtracking each after beating each level, just incase something was missed, despite going everywhere?

When Im fighting those beats inside the dark areas of the game I get the feeling Im playing Doom3, I just hope that Doom3 has that same wicked Piano music like on the others and evil voices too!

I wish they would show more action in 3rd person and I also wish the cut scenes were the actual game rather than some movie.

The 5-cd version of farcry is what I have, i installed it using daemon tools(emualtion), and i overwritten the orginal farcry.exe with the crack carcry.exe. However, when i try to open the game, nothing happens. I means NOTHING happens. i know that i should disable all emulation tools, so i disabled Daemon tools and everything. It still don't work. But also then, if i disable it, i won't have the 1st disk required to play.

how did u guys work it out?

If i need to physically burn the first disk, my alcohol 120% expired, anyone know how i can crack alcohol too?

If you got any solutions for me, thank you.
