Lol, you cant compare a (how many years?) old PC game with a yet to be released 360 one.
But yea, it does look damn gorgeous, cant wait to see what Far Crysis ends up playing like on the PC!

Sadly, FarCry is still one of the best looking games on the PC. PC games haven't exactly increased by leaps and bounds in that time.

That is so true but don't worry RobertR1 Farcry Crown will take stolen as soon as Oblivion is out :)

Game to really the push the ingame graphic bar to a new level :)

I totally disagree, HL2. Loast Coast, COD2, Quake 4, FEAR.
All these games look better then the 360 counterparts and games like PD0 on the 360.
PC games might not have had the huge graphical leaps as youve suggested, but they are still ahead of 'next-gen' consoles.
This Far Cry Predator, its a DX10 game isnt it? Well, yet to be released anyway.
By the time it is, there may even be games like Prey, UT2k7 and even the new Crysis to compete.

HL2 didn't look as cool as farcry
COD 2 (please tell me you were kiddind :( sky/Smoke grenade some level looked good but the game was blah overall )
FEAR it had awsome partical effect but overall feel wasn't that great looking
QUake 4 looked good but it was more of indoor game
Farcry has the best outdoor graphic and Oblivion will beat it :)

Also your stupid lame attack that all the these game look better than all XBOX 360 game , then i will have to say you haven't played xbox 360

Kameo: Elements of Power :) overall the best looking game i think
Project Gotham 3 :) looks realistic in some tracks
Condemned: Criminal Origins looks much better than fear

I agree with you.

I especially liked the heat haze in Far Cry on the Volcano level.

It looks like CryTek will be keeping their tradition alive and will release the first fully DX10 game, just like they did with DX9. Let's hope it's a good game, too. :)

The only reason I think this is true is because of the geography..... I mean c'mon, you're comparing a beautiful tropical paradise to post apocolyptic Russia... :p of course it's gonna look cooler!

Seriously, both games look incredible, but IMHO HL2 looks a bit more realistic.

Well if HL 2 was more fan to play like riddick escape from butcher then yes :!
I love Riddick escape from butcher bay. I bought it the game for my xbox and i wasn't expecting to much of the game but hell yeah :) that game was so cool :)


IF game developer are just going to worry about graphic and physic ... then Game are just going down hill. They need to rework on storyline and fun factor gameplay which Riddick had :)

When it was released on PC , I bought the game so i could play with keyboard and mouse :) and high res but both version are awesome

Crysis will definitly be AMAZING!

PC Gamer UK have done a massive preview of it recently go check it out.

Fully Destructible scenery (thats including the trees and foliage)

You can interact with all the foliage!

Day/Night cycles AND to top it off you actually start your missions by parachuting in. And you can in fact parachute in anywhere on the island or around it in the sea!

That water likely uses shader model 3 (displacement mapping, likely) to get that look to it (or, that's what I'm speculating)...

Hopefully more PC games come out looking like that.

There's a video on the internet comparing the two games, if you haven't seen it

I have no doubt in my mind that Crysis will be amazing too...that'll probably be something I buy on the day it's released :p

Edit: I hope they do that displacement mapping water effect in Crysis too...really looks awesome in those screenshots.

Far Cry has always been the best looking (overall) PC game in my mind. Lots of games focused on textures and not geometry, or vice versa, but Far Cry got everything good (jack of all trades, master of none). The current PC version's water does look oversaturated in comparison. Thanks for the link!

I think they should just make two paths. DX8 and DX9. Have the DX9 one use FP16 HDR (even FX10), PS3.0, VS3.0, geoemtry instancing, everything. Have DX8 use modest things so that casual gamers can still play their favorite game. Sort of like what Valve did with HL2, but really extend the DX9 to encompass all of the latest features. I want to see every game released from now have some form of SM3 and HDR inside it that is enable-able. Us enthusiasts (or NV4x/R5xx+ owners) continue to suffer from lack of feature integration!

Crytek keeps improving the PC version of Farcry too. I recently read about new graphical updates that you can download and install to the game that gives it a boost in eye candy. Nothing as big as the look of the new 360 game, but still pretty nice.

I agree with the one talking abaout Riddick, its one of the best games I´ve ever played on PC. Awesone graphics and incredible gameplay.
and far Cry has one of the best graphics out there, at the same level of HL2...
Oblivion is gonna be the most awesome looking game in years !!!!

yeah but remember farcry was out way before Half life 2 and do you remember all cires "MY PC can't run it" lol :)

Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay=============Jun 1st 2004(XBOX) Dec8 2004 (PC) (awesome looking game with allround graphic )
F.E.A.R ==============================Oct 17th 2005 (awesome partical effect , AI , Physic and slow motion time , blow things up never looked so cool )
Quake 4==============================OCT 18th 2005 (indoor graphic)

Oblivion==============================March late 2006 (to finally beat the crap out of PC farcry )

Taken about 2 years to beat Farcry Introductions :)

There is also Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I always thought that game looked better than any of those, and it had the gameplay to match.

this comparison is stupid... FC for PC came out 2 years ago. It's kinda like comparing Crysis with FC:I 360 in a few more years. now let's see who wins.

It is... I've seen a huge gameplay demo, and it does look great. Interiors are really fantastic. When you go out, the viewing distance kills but it doesn't look as incredible as I thought because farther objects visibly lose quality. Water isn't too spectacular either. OTOH, the vegetation looks awesome.

As for FC on Xbox 360, water kicks some serious butt compared to the flat surface in FC PC. Other than that, nothing too stunning, I guess.
