Going a little overboard with the screenshots, aren't we? Anyway, better than Doom3 or Quake4? Perhaps. Better looking than HL2? Ehh, I don't think so.

😛 yea think I went a lil too much, anyhow I think texture wise, when you look at the map walls, lighting and other details, no game compares to FarCry, however if you're looking at character details, then FarCry is far from the newage games. But I think the best aspect about the game is that everything blends out just right, for example in Hl2, the maps are dull, but regardless of that there aren't large enough or higly detailed tectures in every area as in FarCry. You may see a couple of places that have them yet some common areas like roads and pavements wouldn't have them, and I'm not saying Hl2 is bad, its a great looking game, but I think FarCry still has the edge.

HL2 looks good quite often, but just as often they cheesedick textures and geometry. Doom3 still reigns indoors. Hopefully Crysis comes through and picks up the foliage crown where Far Cry leaves off.

I prefer the look of HL2 FF cinematic mod, or episode 1, to Farcry.

i think FC's gfx have always been overrated . . . sure the "scenery" is nice . . . but that's about all.
[do you really like the character models? 😛

and now . . . in 2006 . . . they are positively dated.

at any rate, the game story is awful, the plot is stupid, and the voice acting is amateur . . . only the "gameplay" saved this buggy game from being a complete disaster.

You must not be one of those fellows who's constantly complaining about how little developers care about "gameplay". Anyway, that's really what makes one love a game and "re-play" it over and over again.
