The game was designed to run on it. Far Cry came out in March of 04. The X800 came out in may of 04. There were plenty of 9800 and 9700 cards running this game at the time.

By OK it was usually smooth. But when there was a lot of those trigens or whatever on the screen or a lot to render it took a hit.

And the res was a typo, it was 1280x1024

A buddy of mine ran Farcry at 1024x768 with no AA/AF on a 9800 Pro, P4 2.6GHz w/ HT, and 1GB of RAM and it ran at about 25fps.

XP 2400+, 1024MB RAM, 9800 Pro... I ran it at 1280x1024 with most settings on high. It got a little slow at times 20fps or so, but it was very playable most of the time.

Just try the demo or something if you're not convinced.

I would call an avg of no less than 40-50fps or more decent with FarCry with 90% of the game above 40fps and 9% of the game above 25-30fps

Actually I wanted to know for that would would the most accurate possible estimate for Crysis as well. From what I can tell you at the moment that if a 2.4 GHz + 9700Pro could play FarCry at 1024x768 all High with no AA no AF then there is a very good chance of single core A64 + 1900XTs doing 1024x768 High or nearly max with 8x or even 16x AF.
You w0t twisted?
