When i play farcry this happens with HDR on. When the level loads everything is fine then about ten seconds later i get all those streaks on the screen.

EVGA 7800gt with forceware 78.03
Farcry patched to 1.33
Have reinstalled the game

Hope someone can help

try the latest patch because I have never seen that.

Never mind haven't played with HDR yet. Hmm make sure AA is disabled.

Looks to me like you got some uber dynamic range going on there. You should feel special for having that much dynamic range. 😛

It's definately a driver/game issue; those do not look like hardware artifacts at all. As others have said, make sure you disable AA/AF, and check your far cry settings.

Rename FarCry.exe in the Far Cry folder to something else, like nVidiaPleaseLeaveMySettingsAlone.exe. Then launch that EXE instead.

This happens due to nVidia applying a driver profile which is incompatible with HDR in Far Cry.

Alternatively, open the file "C:\windows\system32\nvapps.xml" and delete the Far Cry profile in that file.

It looks like you got an illuminated keyboard on high.
Realism!

and curious as to your overclocking as well.
(though if you needed to overclock a 7800, well...)

1) Set all Graphic settings to ?Very High?
2) Disable anti-aliasing
3) Type ?r_hdrrendering 7? in the console or modify the game?s shortcut to "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" "r_hdrrendering 7"

Go to the command line (hit ~) and type: \r_hdrrendering X

where X is a number between 1 and 9 . 7 is the most popular one; it's the 'bloom' effect. The difference is minimal, but 7 is generally accepted as the best looking.

Note that you need to have an Nvidia card with Shader Model 3.0 (it's not really the SM 3 that does it, but all SM 3 Nvidia cards also are capable of 16-bit OpenEXR HDR rendering, which is what Far Cry uses).

If that X850XT is what you've got then sadly you're out of luck. I had to get a GeForce 6600GT to test it out myself (not a good idea, btw. HDR Performs like a dog on a 6600GT 🙁 ).

Half Life 2 uses a different form of HDR that ATI's SM 2.0 cards do as well. There was actually a Far Cry demo benchmark that ran in HDR that worked fine on ATI cards... Sadly, they chose to go with Nvidia-exclusive (for the time being) OpenEXR HDR for the full version of the game.

This was extrapolated from the Forceware 81.84 release notes:

GeForce 7800 GTX / GeForce 6800 Ultra/ GeForce 6600:

There isintermittent glowing corruption around the edges of the screen in Far
Cry patch 1.33 when HDR is enabled.

This issue is also seen with driver versions 77.77, 78.01, and 78.05. The issue
does not occur with 77.72 drivers.

Try renaming the FarCry.exe to something else eg. CryFar.exe
Some people have reported that this action stopped the odd behaviour.
