FarCry crashes when saved games are loaded

For some reason unknown, when I load certain saved games from Far Cry (it seems to just be random, no pattern on which ones it chooses) it just completely restarts my computer. I dont' know what could be causing this, when I go into developer mode and load any level it works fine, it only seems to be the saved games that crash my computer. I'm using the 1.3 version of FarCry... my system specs are in my sig.

so, does it crash in 'developer's mode' or regular?

i'd (make sure my saved games are "safe" then) uninstall and reinstall the game and repatch it . . . . i'd also defrag my HD before REinstalling FC.

and try several versions of Cats. 😉
 
It seems to crash in both. I didn't use developer mode when I started playing but my saves started crashing my computer and I wanted to show a friend the game so I went into developer mode so I could have all the levels. I'll probably end up doing all that if I care enough to continue playing the game. After I get my new monitor I'm buying HL2 so I don't think Far Cry will be my biggest concern. 😉
 
it just may be going back and forth from Developer's mode. 😉 . . . anyway, no harm in uninstalling, defragging and reinstalling.

FC is a really excellent game with better gfx, gameplay and enemy AI then HL2. HL2 beats it in "story" & variety.

FC is a hard game and the lack of anytime save sucks . . . look for the 'hack' (it works pretty well) to "anytime save". Although the story is cheesy, the plot holes huge, the voice acting and cutscenes generally are inferior, the REST of the game is top notch (and generally outweighs the flaws).

I had a problem with FC crashing to the desktop but that was due to two bad sticks of RAM.

I'm on ly on about the sixth level of FC so I haven't been playing it too long. Really not enough time. SO what is the "hack"? I presume you mean that it will let me save anywhere in the game rather than checkpoints. Care to share?
Also how do I take a screen shot in FC and where does it store the image?

Just open the console and type "\save_game" without the quotes. You can also give it a name to make different saves.
