Far Cry performance increase with new 4.12 Catalyst?

I just upgraded my brother's system to a XP 2400+ and a 9800NP. He's been wanting Far Cry for a while now, so I picked him up a used copy from the FS/FT forum.

I don't have any plans to play it, so I don't really know which Catalyst version is best for FC performance. Since he only has dial-up at home, I'll probably just burn a few of the latest versions to a CD just in case I need to rollback to an older driver.

I've read that the latest 4.12 Beta driver is supposed to improve FC performance, but since HL2 is the craze, I can't confirm this with benchmarks.

Anyone playing FC with the newer 4.12 drivers?

Got a link, Viper? I searched AT for a few minutes, but didn't see anything regarding FC benchmarks and the 4.12 Beta drivers. I know the HL2 review uses the 4.12's.

LOL sorry Far Cry should be good I play it with 1024x768 4xaa and 16x af on a 9500 Pro. So your 9800 should play it fine. I get stuttering when I first start a game. When you shoot a gun has a delay from when you press and the gun fires But after that one time its all good.

I suppose you have 512Mb ram, Viper, because I had the same problem until I upgraded to 1024MB, 1GB RAM has become a standard for high end gaming (high details in games such as FarCry, Doom 3 and HL2).
As for FarCry with 9800NP it should work perfectly on 1024x786 Max Details with some AA/AF, I can run it @ 1152x864 Max details no AA/16AF on my Pro with a decent 30+ FPS.
