Those invisible mutant guys scare the crap out of me. Does anyone agree?
The first time I met with one of them, he's hiding in a corner of a room to the right with a one-way-glass wall. I started with full health and armor. I walked past the glass and was thinking about how cool it was to actually see a kickass reflective surface (water looks kickass too!!). Then machine gun fire burst through the glass, scaring the sh|t outta me. I started unloading back, however, there was nothing to shoot at. I kept dodging left and right and jumping all over and unloading all over the room but still getting hit. I kept thinking "WTF!? Rendering problems this bad this far into the game so suddenly?" -then I remembered someone's comment in one of the FarCry threads about being thankful for the goggles because some of the monsters were nearly invis. I thought that he just meant that some of the maps were too dark to see anything without muzzle illumination or something. Sh|t. Invis baddies. Although the idea sucks for what I was expecting the game to be, being startled and running frantic was great. It was great to forget that it's a game for once and actually fearing for my life.

Kinda like the part in HalfLife where the headcrab is RIGHT around the dark corner in one of the vents and JUMPS at you the INSTANT you come peeking around it. That scared the shat outta me too. I remember playing that part at Viper GTS's house and him sitting behind me. The bastard knew what was coming up and wanted to see my reaction.
The first confrontation with one of these guys nearly killed me because I didn't know wtf was going on, though. I never would have thought about something as stupid as light manipulation. I mean, seriously. Rockets built into the arm, gene manipulation, and creatures that jump 30 feet in the air is too much to begin with. Now creatures that have the ability to bend light around their bodies using nothing but their skin?
I reloaded the save point, popped the goggles on, and found the guy shooting from behind a trashcan in the back corner. They actually take cover. Coooooooool.
Oh well.
Oh, and you CAN hide in the grass. You can get a lot closer to mobs by going prone or even crouching through the grass than you can walking upright -let alone running. But the moment you step out into crawl out into plain view, you're history!
