Been playing with Far Cry on my new X1800 XT. Athlon 64 3500 venice. Everything stock, no overclocking.

1600x1200 - everything very high, aa/af set in game not ccc.

im getting pretty choppy performance...fraps is telling me 18-25 fps in big outdoor areas. this doesnt seem right for the XT..

Im getting around 8500 3dmark05.

is something set wrong in far cry...

did all the patches... 1.1 - 1.33

just tried battlefield 2 with fraps as well... im averaging like 50fps at 1600x1200 at everything high.

i dunno, not bad. but, i expected more from the XT. at least 60fps average...

use the console command to see the FPS in BF2, I never really liked using FRAPs

i think ur cpu is bottlenecking your performance, your 3dmark05 scores are about accurate tho for a stock x1800xt. I dunno max everything at 1600x1200 averaging 50fps is normal i think, especially if your using lots of aa/af.

So, if i want 60+fps, i gotta drop my resolution or drop the eye candy...

i paid close to 600 for this video card...kinda sucks. most reviews have the xt in the upper 70's or better on far cry, bf2 etc... at 16x12, maybe my cpu is bottlenecking me, like you said...dunno. doesnt seem right. i got a 3500 venice...not slow. i cant imagine how fear will run...jeez.

well...just overclocked my xt using the ccc ati overclocking tool. seems to be stable at max 690 - 800

ran 3dmark05 and got 8860... is that a pretty decent score...

yeah you should be able to do 2.5ghz-2.6ghz easy with a 3500 venice

Just FYI I am running it with latest patches all settings ALL the way up at 1600x1200 and it runs like butter most of the time (X1800XL) (Venice 3200) 2 x 512 DDR 3200

I'm running 1.33 patch, Extended Content Upgrade, 1280x960 w/ HDR7 + 4xAA 8xAF all settings maxed.

Game runs completely smooth for me, never drops below ~35FPS.

IMO 60FPS is already a lot, between 40-60 is already fast and playable for me.
