I suspect the ones who will be really, truly offended by this are the ones uncomfortable looking themselves in the mirror. Why, Christians in America never commit horrible acts, it's just "other people" (read: non-Christians and non-whites) who do it.

That's not to give the game a free pass. There is a concern that Ubisoft is engaging in a kind of "shock tourism" where it's appearing to be edgy, but is really just trying to escape the kill-people-in-exotic-places setting of other Far Cry titles. It's more likely to be a palette swap of sorts than a profound commentary on the hypocritical nature of religious fervor in the US.

Not that I'm saying you shouldn't buy the game... it just isn't likely to give you pause for reflection while you're busy raiding bases.

It's just video games man. The arguments against their content are all the same as the first one pushed that playing violent games will make you violent. This is why I think the groups that started attacking video games for their content did a lot of harm and drove a portion of the young demographic that games into the hands of the alt-right.
