Far Cry 2's Map Editor is amazing

Whoa. This is freaking sweet. You can control terrain, textures, weather, 1,000 objects, and a whole bunch of other crap.

edit: Removed unintentional flamebait title. Don't want this to turn into a Halo 3 Forge bash.

It's about time they start giving console gamers the tools to make actual maps and not just reorganize the items in a level. Can you share your creations online?

i would assume so since Far Cry Instincts let you do that.

Halo 3's forge sucked. It was advertised as a map editor and is nothing more than an object placement tool.

But you could edit a map with forge. Object placement and object layout is part of a map. If you bought it and was disappointed you couldn't make new geometry, then lesson learned about researching your purchases before laying down the cash.

Oh and i saw an airplane in that video, does this mean far cry 2 will have controllable planes? It must be that hard to do for the coders because I know it already has gliders.

hhaha, yeah I'm sure most people bought halo for the forge.

And no, you are not editing a map, you are putting objects into a static environment.

I never said people bought Halo for Forge.

And yes, you are editing a map in Forge. If you want to edit maps, you look for a map editor. If you want to create a map, you look for a map creator.

It's always been called a map editor since the first levels were created for Doom. The term map creator has never been used.

It was hyped to be much more than a object placer. It has nothing to do with "researching your purchases." I bought Halo 3 because I liked the gameplay, but I'm not that much of a fanboy to deny that I was disappointed with Forge.

I'm simply arguing semantics, not the history of map editors/creators and what they were called. Just bringing to the forefront of the actual meaning of the term "edit". Forge was advertised as a map editor. Guess what? You can edit maps in Forge. It may not be to the extent you guys would like, but it's still a map editor. That's all I'm arguing.

I never cared for Forge personally, but it added lots of replayability. And FC2's map editor is completely different than what Forge was meant to be. I laugh at those who immediately compare it to Forge, but then basically say Forge isn't even an editor, therefore disqualifying any direct comparison.

Just more Halo hate, I'm here trying to even the tide.
