Hey all

I'm having trouble with Far Cry 2 and I'm wondering if it's the game or my new build. My previous rig was a SKT 939 X2 4400 with 2GB of ram. I could play FC2 on high with no trouble and even played it with DX10 enabled (ran like junk but I could still enter the game). I just upgraded to the system below and now I can't even get to the menu it's so laggy. The benchmark also freezes and crashes during the load. Surely my current system can handle this, is this a problem with the game or something going on with my computer? The temps are within norms i believe cpu 25-50C, chipset 40-45C, HDD 50-56C, GPU 47-60C

Maybe related to vista 64 bit as google search yielded a lot of Vista 64 posts with the same problem. Some say this fixes it:

press "~" to open the console.
Enter "gfx_MaxFps 9999" then "gfx_MaxFps 30" into the console.

Otherwise - run in DX9 and bump the settings to what you think look good vs acceptable FPS.

I've never had the game drop below 60 FPS (vsync) @ 1920@1080 with every setting maxed with Vista x64.

ya compared to adamk47 my rig is pretty pathetic. But it was cost effective and for me it works well, I'd probably still be using my amd system if the DDR ram wasn't so expensive. I just said heck with DX10, it runs fine on very high 1680x1050 38-50FPS so i'm happy
