Far Cry 2 play without Disc ?

I know this topic may borders on the discussion which is not to be named.

But anyway to play FC2 without the disc. I mean it already activated with the disc, and the key, now why does it need the disc ? I don't want the disc to get scratched .

What to do ?
 
You... don't want the disc to get... scratched? That's your reason? If it's activated and legit don't bother with getting a crack to run it, that'd be stupid, you also paid (if you bought it) for the multi-player component of the game which you won't be able to play with a cracked executable. But, seriously... because you don't want the disc to get scratched? That's probably the best one I've read in a long time, if you're concerned about your media drive scratching your game or other discs I suggest you to buy a new one instead of cracking your game.

Didn't know about the multiplayer not available with Cracked .exe.

But ya seriously the scratched is the main reason, taking FC2 out and putting another disc in to play another game. I keep doing it and this disc is going to get scratched eventually.

Why do you scoff at the reason, isn't that why cracked .exe's are made ?
 
If you don't play Multiplayer much, then just backup your non-cracked EXE and keep it around for when you want to play Multi. Just use a cracked EXE when you are playing SP.
 
I don't remember ever scratching a disc just by putting it in the disc tray. Unless you have fat fingers, just stick your finger through the hole in the middle and pick it up like that.
 
I hate having to have a change discs in either of my dvd drives. If possible, I always try and use an image on a virtual drive. Burn an image using Alcohol or download a mini-image then just mount it on a virtual drive.

Telling him to buy a new drive is the stupidest comment ever since he would need to wait for the disc to get fucked before he would know to replace the drive. When that happens, he'll come back here again to post the exact same question of how to run the game without the CD, and I bet you'll troll that thread as well.


wolf, you will need to crack the game to get rid of the CD check. I make images for all of my games, and almost none of them are able to pass CD checking. Oddly enough, the ones that pass CD checking often need to be cracked anyway because they fail all the other checking.

Yeah I should have told him that I didn't believe that he bought the game instead. he says he don't want to scratch his disc which almost no drives will do especially nowadays. He should have just asked for a way to get rid of the CD check which will have led me to not believe he bought the game anyway.

And for Christ' sake why am I here trying to excuse my previous post, I still hold my ground. If he doesn't want his disc getting scratched it's because other discs got scratched before, at least logically, that means his drive is obviously faulty and he needs to replace it anyway, Far Cry 2 or not. Go call my posts trolling elsewhere.

The Xbox 360 definitely fits under "nowadays" and it scratches discs like crazy. My friend lost both his Gears of War and GTA 4 discs because of them being scratched by the drive. There's no way to tell if your modern DVD drive will scratch discs until after they have been scratched.

I don't want to sound like a dick, but anyone who's worth their weight already knows how common disc scratching is. I've lost 2 Diablo discs before and several of my Playstation 1 games to scratching within the drive. I'm not even touching the disc with my bare hands. I leave Gran Turismo in the Playstation, I play it lots, the game stops working, I take the disc out to see it's all scratched to hell. If the CD or DVD were not in the drive, it would not be scratched.
 
Alright alright, let's just all make mini-images of our games, that's cool the point is made. Let's go back to cartridges (hey that would be possible, USB keys can hold GB's of data today, why not selling them as USB Keys instead, plug-in and it's ready to go). I must have been lucky then, to have never lost a single disc due to a drive scratching it to "death" ever since I play PC games (back in 2001). When I think about it I lost more cartridges games due to dust back in the NES days. Heh, it's awesome what luck can do in life, but when things go as they should everything suddenly fails, gets faulty, breaks and gets scratched.
 
Two of my discs stopped working a few months ago: Company of Heroes and STALKER. They don't even look damaged. So it does happen, even without much use. Fortunately, CoH only asks for the disc when I'm offline and STALKER was just on sale on Steam for $5, so it wasn't that bad.

What's with the piracy kneejerk reaction? We hear enough from publishers - we don't need to start pointing fingers at other gamers for no good reason.

Don't worry it's my nature, I often overreact based on what others around me tell me, but I often disagree with them, but you know what, that's fine, life still goes on and I don't effect their lives in any way, shape or form, and neither do they affect mine in the same manners. What I think of the OP's situation won't change anything anyway, he will get a crack or will make or download a mini-image, and everyone will be happy in the end.

What a nonsensical response. He should buy a new drive? LMAO.

I have a legit version of the game and it's activated but I want a no-CD crack like wolf2009 does. Not damaging the disc is just one of a plethora of reasons for wanting a no-CD crack.

Unfortunately at this time there?s no crack for version 1.02 of the game so I had to play it in the drive (it's actually the first new game in a long time that I?ve had to do this).

Just make a CD image, you don't have to wait for a crack, there's in fact no reasons to download a cracked .exe if you have the legit copy, if you do know how to make a proper image (except with TAGES), then it will emulate the protection. I'm using an image for Battlefield 2 myself, which I made (and it wasn't because I didn't want the DVD to get scratched, simply because if I use it it still asks for the DVD in the drive, it's a SecuROM issue, and that's the only reason for me not to use the legit disc).
 
not always the DVD drive that scratches a disc but the more times it goes in and out of its storage case and into your PC chances are something might happen to it. While I don't condone piracy Gamejackal is a software that is legitimately sold for the purpose of not having to put your LEGALLY owned DVD in the drive every time you want to play.
 
If there's a disc check, isn't at least in the USA, using Daemon tools illegal under the anti-circumvention portions of the DMCA?

Again this is nonsense. There are lots of good reasons for no-CD cracks. A single exe that is a few hundred MBs is far better than screwing around with disc images, especially since a disc image consumes disc space on top of what the installed game uses.

Furthermore a lot of games won?t install if they detect disc imaging utilities on the system.
 
Considering all the malware DRM that games come loaded with these days, I would not open any game exe that is not a cracked one, unless I have seen confirmation that it doesn't contain anything.

I'm merely stating an opinion, the "in fact" portion is the nonsense part, but I still believe what I wrote for myself, it applies to me, if it doesn't to you then there's nothing wrong about it, I'm not obliging nor imposing my thoughts on others, I think that should be obvious enough, let's forget about everything I said, I know I'm being wrong in the eyes of everyone, and that's fine, it's often like that in many subjects, it's alright, it's part of disagreements and/or agreements we can have during various conversations on as many different subjects. You disagree, that's cool, let's just get over it, I'm sure we can agree on other subjects.

The FC2 disc protection mechanism does not allow you to run it from a mounted image. First off, the game won't run at all if you have Daemon tools installed on your computer, and although it will run with Alcohol 52% installed, you can't run it from an image mounted there (I tried it).
 
I bought the game today and I am not a pirate. I simply hate all CD/DVD checks for games, especially this one considering you have to perform an Internet activation when you first launch the game anyway! Ridiculous to have a DVD check every time...

For anybody who is still interested in avoiding having to put their DVD in every time, here's the work-around:

1. Install the game
2. Update to v1.2
3. Launch once to activate using your legit DVD Key/Serial. Then quit the game.
4. Now, find the original Razor1911 Crack which is literally only 30KB or so and replace the game executable.
5. Now, play the game!

Ignore what everyone else has been saying about Multiplayer not working with the crack. It works fine for me and you don't need a new crack for the patched v1.2 of the game.

Enjoy Far Cry 2 without the annoying DVD check! 🙂
