Far Cry 2 Multiplayer Hands-on Review

Most folks are probably interested in the Far Cry 2 single player experience. That's what most of the PR on this game has so far focused on (besides the awesome map editor it will ship with). And it does sounds like it will be interesting.

But myself, nowadays I have more fun playing on-line with my friends.

Finally, I found an article addressing the multiplayer side of the game. Sounds Awsome!

I'm looking forward to the Capture the Diamond (flag) mode, and the new Uprising mode:

...Uprising, is a hybrid of VIP and a Battlefield-style point capture. There are three control points that can be captured only by each team's captain. One team must capture all three points, after which the game will end when the other team's captain is assassinated.

I've been looking for something new to hold me over until BF3 shows up. Hopefully this game can help fill the gap.

The 16 player max map size kind of worries me. Looking at the SP, Far Cry 2 seems like a game that would benefit from larger battles, at least 32 players. They also seem to be playing up the custom maps a lot, but I'm weary of a map editor designed with console players in mind too.

I'll still be picking this up, if for the SP only, and I'll definitely give the MP a close look. No fps MP has impressed me lately.
