Okay, now I'm getting fed up with the drinking threads. All you nerds do is drink and whack off while moaning about how you can't land the hottie across the hall. Hopefully my last thread helped you with the latter.
Drinking protips:
- Prehydrate. Match your water intake to alcohol intake if possible, 8oz water to 1 oz alcohol. Not the other way around. If you have Gatorade to replenish your electrolytes, all the better, otherwise eat something salty too.
- B-Complex vitamins (namely Thiamine/B1 and Cobalamin/B12) are known to assist in preventing and restoring nerve damage, as well as helping you break down the alcohol. It is also good for preventing brain-fry from drinking too much. Buy a bottle of this. Take a few pills before drinking and before passing out; it'll total up to be a few thousand percent more than what you need, that's fine. You can't really OD on B-complex. Possible side effect: Discolored pee and faster route to sobriety, not that it's a bad thing.
- Pre-grease your belly. Hit up the Taco Bell on the way to the party and down a couple bean burritos. Otherwise, make a run for the snack table and eat a handful of peanuts before downing those Flaming Dr. Peppers. The grease will inhibit direct absorption of the alcohol through your stomach and intestinal linings. You'll still get drunk, just not as quickly or as badly.
- Taking aspirin or Alka-seltzer right before you go to sleep, AND right after you wake up will make your hangover that much more tolerable. Skip this and wait till morning before medicating if you have a sensitive stomach, or take buffered aspirin. NEVER take acetominophen or ibuprofen. Those can easily kill you.
- Watch what you drink. Vodka, white wine, and other clear liquors are the least offensive to your body, but can still wreak havoc. Careful about brandy, scotch, and whiskey. Their chemical composition is more apt to make you hurt in the morning. Red wine is also a big hangover culprit for different reasons.
- Fizzy drinks increase alcohol absorption and should be swigged with caution. Rum and coke can be just as bad as champagne.
- Ease up on the girly drinks. Sugar hides alcohol's flavor making you drink more. This is especially true with mixed cocktails like mai tais and long island iced teas. You can easily end up going WAY past your limit.
- If you can't drink less, drink more slowly. Your body can only work so fast to metabolize the drink. Giving it more time to get to work on your last shot will ensure that less of it will be around to fsck you up in the morning.
