Would you trade LaDainian Tomlinson, Jerry Porter, Stacey Mack, Kelly Holcomb, and Marquise Walker for Marshall Faulk, Chad Johnson, Tommy Maddox, Antowain Smith, and LaBrandon Toefield (backup Jax RB)?

This is the rest of my team (12 team league).
QB Manning, Holcomb, Bulger (notice no sure backup QB)
RB Tomlinson, Jamal Lewis, Zereoue, Mack, Adrian Peterson
WR Koren Robinson, Driver, Porter, Streets, Marquise Walker
TE Jolley
Def Green Bay
K Carney

I know, I know... Marshall Faulk IS an injury concern, but at the same time I feel that in a revitalized St. Louis offense he can really do things and produce at a comparable level as LaDainian.. Jerry Porter I am not completely sold on, and I feel that Chad Johnson has a much greater chance of producing big numbers. Stacey Mack vs. Antowain Smith is a wash, but I suppose I like Smith a little better cuz his supporting cast is better. Picking up Tommy Maddox is pretty huge actually, because I don't have a backup for Peyton at the moment (there is no say Holcomb or Bulger will ever start). Toefield is an intriguing pickup in this trade because he will start WHEN (not if) Fred Taylor goes down.

So, what do you guys think?

i wouldnt do it

i rather have LT than faulk, i think LT woudl do better this season w/ Boston freeing up some space for him

u would get maddox but why? u already have manning and holcomb(hes pretty decent for a backup imo)
the backup would probably only play about 1 game (peytons bye week) if peyton doesnt get hurt (and he usually doesnt). u can always look for a trade later if he does get hurt

u would also lose porter w/ no great WR in return..

the weakest position u have i think is at Def., in a 12team league there has to be a better D out there u can pick up off waivers

1. Holcomb isn't even the starting QB in Cleveland (well not yet). Maddox will be throwing to the top receiving duo in the league in Ward and Burress.

2. Chad Johnson is the #1 WR in Cincinnati, while Porter isn't and will have to battle for PT with two Hall of Fame WRs in Rice and Brown. Also, Porter fell off hard in the 2nd half of last year which worries me. I don't see what you mean I don't get a great WR in return.

3. I think the Packers D should do fine this year, I'll pick up another D if they don't work out though.

No... keep Tomlinson. He will be the number one fantasy player this year. sg is right, what do you need 2 good QBs for? All you need is a decent backup to play your starter's off week. Trade for your weaknesses, not other good players at positions you already have filled. WR is obviously your need here, so if you must make trades ,go get yourself a legit WR, not Chad Johnson..keep in mind who he has throwing to him. Also I am hearing rumblings that Antowain Smith may share time and possibly be 2nd string to Kevin Faulk. Who knows how that may turn out.

Bottom line is, you're losing the best player in the deal, and gaining depth. You don't need depth, you just need one good WR, and trading the #1 fantasy guy is not the answer.

Do it. You're getting a much better receiver in Johnson (He was impressive last year even with the poor QB's, and Porter still has to compete with Rice and Brown for catches) and a better backup in Smith (NE is gonna look more to the run this year than last... Mack might not pan out). In my eyes, Faulk and Tomlinson are on equal ground... there is no clear #1 back this year- the big 5 are all really good.

Thanks, this is more or less what I wanted to hear :D.

I don't know why people hate on Chad Johnson.

I wouldn't do it. Keep LT. I am not sold on Marshall Faulk this year. As someone else pointed out, Manning (I've had him in 3 of the last 4 seasons) hardly ever misses playing time. You should be able to find a good backup QB on waivers. (Harrington, Palmer, or Stewart still available? Maybe Carr? These QB's should be easy to trade for).

Don't let Porter go. I had Brown last year and my roommate had Rice. Together, we wished injuries galore on him everytime he caught a TD. Never, ever pick a Bengal receiver. That is risking too much.

Edit: added a few words for clarity and explanation.

Did you see him over the last 6 games or so? He completely sucked ass (Porter that is).

It sounds like you already made up your mind.

edit: you have a good point about the second half of the season with Porter. But Brown and Rice are only getting older.

I see it like this... I'm making a potential drop off from LT to Faulk, no question. However, it is not out of Faulk's capabilities, specifically in that offense, to outperform LT this year. And every other player I am getting in the trade is an upgrade. Don't you agree?

As long as Marshall holds up his end of the bargain, and Johnson doesn't succomb to Bengalitis, then yeah it does look like a pretty good trade. It could really go either way once the season starts. I thought murphy55d had a pretty good explanation why it might turn out bad for you though.
