...basically trading Manning for Portis, and taking a gamble on Leftwich. It feels like I'm losing out (especially after Monday night's game) but my starting QB is Steve McNair and I could really use a good RB.
Also consider the scoring system. One of my pools give one point for a reception or a completion in addition to all the other regular points. In this pool, I choose Manning over any other QB because of the sheer number of passes he throws (ala Marino). In fact, before his injury Marshall Faulk was one of the top RB in this pool because of the number touches he gets outside of running.
Assuming a regular scoring system, then this is a tough trade to take and a tough one to reject.
You also need to consider what the other person has in the hatch for RB. If he has LT and RW, then he will not be hurt at all for giving up Portis. You will have made his team very strong with Manning as QB. If on the other hand, he has Kevin Faulk and Curtis Martin, then he is really hurting his team and I would be more likely to trade him.
In the end, I think he would be getting the better deal because Garner is a better back than Leftwich is a QB.
I would probably pass on this trade for the simple reason that you can't use Leftwich (because of McNair). If I trade two players to a team and he is going to be using both players as starters, then I want to get two starters in return.
That's me.
