OK short story...I got into a second league...and didn't have the chance to attend the draft SO...I asked a good friend to do it...but he screwed me and forgot so my team got Auto drafted...

Except the auto draft was apparently setup by a team of monkeys and I got hosed on my team to some extent...SO I need to re-tool and have the chance to do so today at waiver wire time.

here is the craptastic team...with a few exectptions (12 team league)

Peyton Manning QB IND Starter
Ronnie Brown RB MIA Starter
Brandon Jacobs RB NYG Starter
Santonio Holmes WR PIT Starter
Roy Williams WR DET Starter
Chris Chambers WR MIA Starter
Tony Gonzalez TE KAN Starter
Shayne Graham K CIN Starter
Chicago Bears Def/ST CHI Starter

Jake Delhomme QB CAR Reserve
Reuben Droughns RB NYG Reserve
Vernand Morency RB GNB Reserve
Muhsin Muhammad WR CHI Reserve
Kellen Winslow TE CLE Reserve

There isn't much left in free agency to pick from so I am pretty limited.

The best I can come up with are
Deion Branch
Ronald Curry
Michael Turner

The rest is a bunch of no bodies...so that leaves me with trading. I was thinking about offering up one of my TE's for another WR or RB...

OR

I have a possible offer for Chambers for Edge James...

Thoughts?

It could be worse. A guy in our league last year used the lists wrong and added all of the players he didn't want to the list. Worst team I've ever seen.

Does the league have any custom scoring rules?

Uh, for a 12 team league, that's a solid draft.

Did Lamont Jordan get drafted?

Alright...I don't feel that bad I guess...

My thoughts...
I didn't like the fact I have two RB's from the same team...and one RB that hasn't even played yet due to a knee injury...

The WR's I was suspect on with regards to the Muhammad...and very little depth outside of my starters...

The TE's are decent for TE's since most teams only have one decent one if at that...

The D is good however the scoring is pretty basic so that negates some of the positives...

NO one in the league wants Muhammad from me because of Rex...

I would like to clean up the RB's a little bit and was thinking about shopping one of my starting WR's for a decent back...thus the chambers deal...I don't want to give up Williams or Manning if at all possible...

What do you guys think about the waiver wire players I listed? Think Turner is a decent gamble to hold on too in case L.T. gets hurt? Dump Muhammad and get Branch (no brainer I think)

Jordan is drafted...

The Scoring is
0.1 points per 2 yards gained.
6.0 points per TD.
1.0 Defensive point for (INT, Sack, Fumble Recover)
2.0 Defensive point for safety and blocks
6.0 Devensive point for TD's and Punt Returns.

There is a bonus score addition that if the TD is over a certain yardage you get +1, +2, +3...

I'd say your WRs are fine. None spectacular, but all good enough. Where you might want to consider upgrading is RB - ronnie brown and brandon jacobs are both pretty big question marks. You might be able to package one of them, with one of your TEs, and the Bears D for a top-tier RB and mid-tier defense...or maybe even pick up a defense from free agency, usually people leave some pretty decent d's on the table.

Funny you would post this... the same thing happened to me, except that I couldn't attend the draft because my grandma was rushed to the hospital. My auto-draft team got me 8 RBs. That's right. 8.

Here's what I have (it's bad... real bad)

Jason Campbell - QB
Willie Parker - RB
Ronnie Brown - RB
Jerious Norwood - RB
Jamal Lewis - RB
Julius Jones - RB
Kevin Jones - RB
Vernand Morency - RB
Deuce Macallister - RB
Darrell Jackson - WR
Vincent Jackson - WR
Matt Jones - WR
Randy McMichael - TE
Seahawks - Defense
Josh Brown - K

the line-up is QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, OP (any offensive player), D, K

Free agency looks like crap... the best pickup I could make is for Rex Grossman. Basically, my absolute needs are a QB, WR, a better defense. Any thoughts? Should I snag Rex off waivers?

The only Defense worth noting would be the Vikings if they can repeat their 06 stats which would be...otherwise based on the scoring all the top and most of the medium ranked Defenses are gone...

Trading always stinks IMO...cause every one thinks their guys are gold and should get a premium...for instance I got an offer already for Roy Williams in exchange for (EITHER not BOTH) Chester Taylor or Lendale White...

I was hoping to avoid getting rid of anyone and picking up a lucky pickup on waivers but there is barely NOTHING.

Yes, as bad as Rex can be he can be great in some games. He might lose you 2 and win you 5-6, which in fantasy is fine.

To the OP: lamont jordan, reggie brown, eagles D, Julius Jones (bet he got drafted though). Those are (from what I have seen) some guys left out of the draft that are worth having. Or if you can shop on of your RBs and a TE for a better RB that would be good too, then pick up another TE somewhere.

You have 2 top 5 TE's. YOu should try packaging one of them with Ronnie Brown to get a better RB, because Ronnie is garbage.

Your team is better than every team I've seen posted here so far.

Drop Vernand...and I can't believe your auto draft didn't have a feature to do something like position limits...and certain quotas on positions...that was the one thing that saved me arse from my auto draft.

however your team does look like a mess...seeing that K. Jones is hurt and you have three starting RB's and a suspect QB.

Can you even attempt to trade some of those guys? IMO you should package your top talent and get more depth to round out your team. Then LIVE on the waiver wires...

Out of my two TE's which would be the better to shop? In my experience...here is how it usually works...when I have two choices

"When you have a 50/50 chance there is a 90% chance I will get it wrong..."

Thanks,

Leeland

definitely a tough call, gonzalez is coming off a sub-par year and he's old. His value won't be that high. Winslow has potential, but hasn't really shown it. I think your team will be better with Winslow, but you won't get as much value shopping gonzalez.

:D that is what I was thinking...guess I will see if someone comes a knocking...

I am going to pick up a WR...cause I have one open spot...

Who would you pick...

Ronald Curry

or

Mike Furrey

i'm curious as to how turner is on free agency? is the LT owner smart enough to realize turner as a handcuff is worth hanging on to? must not be..
i'm also curious as to how branch is on free agency. pick him up stat, hackett/burleson is getting rumors of a time share..

i'd pick up branch with your free slot asap
drop droughns for turner - if you're comparing handcuffs, turner wins over droughns

with wrs of williams, chambers, and holmes with branch as depth i think you're ok.
try to package gonzo with brown to get a consistant rb, i like rudi for this.
take the created space and pickup curry/furrey/james jones/pat crayton/jacoby (texans) after the first week to see who has done well and is getting playtime.

I'd say Furrey. Curry might have a better first week against DET's defense though.

I have one open spot for a WR...I just found out Branch won't be available...it will be either Furrey or Curry...

I need a min. of 3 rb's I have 4 right now...so I was going to get Turner for my scrub...

But was thinking about dropping Morency (freeing up a spot) and grabbing both Curry and Furrey...Just in Case...

hey i just noticed that you had an offer of edge for chambers. thats pretty interesting. i'd consider it. i always like the trade a wr for the rb theory. edge is a late round 2 rb, and chambers is around later than that. i'd probably take that trade. you might even be able to spin a brown + gonzo for a tier 1 wr. if not brown for an andre johnson or someone is probably doable.. me i'd rather have the three rb's knowing that one of them is likely to get hurt and keep the depth. a semi crappy wr3 isnt so bad.

dropping morency is probably a safe move. picking up both curry and furrey is probably a good move. if you're hurting for a safe wr depth, consider kennison if available. he's not a sexy pick but he is a #1 wr and probably good for 800 yards and 4-5 tds over the year.
