I know we have some basketball fans here. Would any of you like to join a Yahoo fantasy NBA league? If so, I'll create a league, and those interested can join (BTW, it's free).

Go here: http://basketball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nba

Click on the "Sign Up Now" button. (You will need a Yahoo! ID, that's free also.)

Then Click on "Yes, I Accept", then Join Private League.

The League ID# will be: 10273
The Password is: anandtech

For now, the draft is set at the latest possible date, but it could be changed of course according to people's needs. The league is fully customizable, I'm just using default settings for now. Hope to see you there! :D

Hey mosdef glad to have you abroad!

To answer your question, I picked that date at time because I had to pick something in order to finish setting up the league. I selected it because it was the latest available, with all intent to change it to the league's needs. You guys just have to tell me when you would like it and whichever gets the most votes I will change it to. :)

prontospyder, today is not available, the earliest date is the 23rd.

Also, the only time slots available are the Early AM or Morning (which is between 6a and 12p, Pacific)

One other thing, no more weekend time slots are available. :frown:
I'm not sure how convenient it is for you guys during the week. But if you want it any earlier it can be during the week of 10/23-27, or 10/30-11/3, during the above mentioned time slot which may interfere with people's work or schooling schedules.

Of course this is only for the live-draft, if you would prefer otherwise, you can "pre-rank" your players and Yahoo! will draft accordingly.

Also, give me an idea of what stats you want to use. Is it fine like this? Or did you want to add or take out something? Just about any stat is available.

I can also change the amount of position players we have. For example, if we don't get more than 10 teams to sign up, I may change it so we have 3 guards and 3 forwards.

Hmm, right now it's rotisserie because that was the default one. I have no idea what the difference is between the two, could you explain?

I don't really want it to be during the week cause of school, so the early morning weekend slot seems like a good time.

Rotisserie:

In a rotisserie league, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories. Points are then awarded according to order of finish in each category, and are totaled to determine an overall score and place.
So, if you are in a 12-team league, the team with the most assists will receive 12 points, the team with the second most will receive 11 points, etc.

Fantasy Points:

In a fantasy point league (available only to Private Leagues), points are awarded based on how well your players perform in each of several statistical categories. All real-life statistics have associated point values, and each player's points are summed to produce your daily total.
So, if in your league, a rebound is worth two points, an assist one and a steal one, a player with two rebounds, three assists and five steals would score 12 [(2*2) + (3*1) + (5*1)] fantasy points.

Fantasy points, which are only awarded to starting players on your team, are tallied throughout the season. Each team with the highest total at the end of the year wins its league championship.

Oh ok I get it. So would everybody prefer a Fantasy Point based league rather than Rotisserie?
