can someone explain this movie?

i took my 11 and 16 yr old to see this thinking it would be like Shrek/Monsters, Inc/Cars etc but it was kind of strange/weird, although i liked it and thought it was funny

the kids liked it, they said, but i don't think younger kids would get it at all
not a typical "kids movie" to me

I saw it at a screening. I liked it, definitely very different. I mean, what can you expect from Roald Dahl? The man's imagination was amazing.

It's great to have something different for a change!

Loved the book when I was a kid. I won't see this in the theater, but will watch it when it comes to HBO or another movie channel.

yes, you need to see Wes Anderson movies. I find it almost sinful one has NOT seen a Wes Anderson movie.

Fantastic Mr. Fox, the book, is a favorite. I'm not sure I want to see it weirded up.

i wouldn't say it was "weirded up" , it just wasn't what i was expecting. it wasn't typical
i would say that "very normal" people may not like it, but others probably would, except younger kids, i don't think kids 10 and younger would get it at all
