Was listening to an interview no too long ago, and it was mentioned that backend revenue like that has dried up substantially from what it was.

Kind of makes sense... People are probably wait for it on Netflix. Or just rent it from Amazon/iTunes.

I used to collect DVDs. Haven't touched any of them in years.

Can confirm.

And that iTunes revenue isn't going pay for a new ferrari either.

Yeah, I was wondering how relevant that was these days--especially wrg to rentals and the disappearance of video rental stores (I miss those: so much better than RedBox and Netflix :\)

was waiting for NS1 to thrash my comment. 😀

The real reason Fantastic Four tanked...

it makes perfect sense actually...

....
Yup, Marvel would like nothing better than to get the rights back.

This FF movie shit the bed. It was so horribad, it had me laughing at the stupidity of it. WTF were they thinking? It would have been better to just stop production and cut your loss.

Whether you blame Trank or the "help" brought in, it'll be an extremely difficult "sell" to get any future "A" level project after this abortion.

It reminds me of that Entourage episode where that arrogant "darling" Director made that horrific Colombian movie and couldn't get any work afterwards. Whether fair or unfair, this is Trank's destiny. :\

sorry, was busy for a bit. will finish it up this weekend. so far the first 30 minutes is not so bad.

Haha. You're in for some serious slide.

It's not the first 30 minutes that is abhorrent. That's actually OK and critiqued by most as such.

It's the last half of the movie where it becomes an abortion. That's where the studio meddled in everything ruining the project beyond salvation.

what's bothering me most is that they are all kids playing in a serious role. doesn't seem to fit but will continue to watch as i sip on some wine.

ok, yeah. not the worst movie I've seen recently (Spiderman 2, cough, cough).

they had a good premise, but the storyline just didn't make sense. the ending was complete horseshit and anti-climatic imho. i wish they would stop trying to make a movie with a full backstory. it's not all that interesting. reboot it and start at the end of the backstory and if necessary do flashbacks.

this movie just felt more, i don't know the word, "organic" than the past movies. had they made the cast a bit more older and accomplished and tweaked the storyline, I think this could have evolved into a decent FF4 movie.

so i give it a meh out of 10. meh meaning 4 and 1/2 stars.

I'll agree with that, definitely worse movies (New Star Trek, cough, cough). But not even good enough for an excuse to sit on the couch and eat junk food. If you're going to try to watch it, best used as a sleep aid while in bed.

Lol. I agree. I fell asleep numerous times trying to get this movie done and over with. Definitely a natural sleep aid.

Looks like the next film just got a wee bit more valuable, reports that Marvel has had film rights for F4 returned in exchange for a limited allowance for Fox to use Xmen on TV.
