I want to add some fans to my system to keep it cool. My case is an inwin midtower, with a spot for a casefan in the front. Id also like to add an exhaust fan, but there is no clear cut place for one. Ive reversed the PS fan but I dont think thats enough.

When I go to order a fan, I see all these ratings that I am not familiar with. For example, what is cfm? I know db is decibel, what db range is reasonably quiet?

My video card is a geforce 2 mx, which has a heatsink on the core. Ive heard of people mounting 486 fans on top of the HS, how exactly is that done? And is there any good way to cool the RAM?

Thanks

You reversed the PS fan? I hope that the air is blowing out, i.e. sucking air OUT of the power supply and case and exhausting it to the outside of the case. You want to take the hot air out. CFM is Cubic Feet per Minute. CFM is a universal airflow measurement used for comparing one fan or air-moving device with another. Same thing as "horsepower". Anyway. You need airflow thru the case. From front to back is best. So, the fan in front will suck in cool air from outside the case, drawing it into the case, and the rear fan will blow it out. The rear fans sucks air from inside the case and blows it outside the case.

RU sure there's no provision for a rear exhaust fan? There's usually a built-in grill (perforated steel) right below the power supply. If there's no precut hole, you can cut one yourself with a Dremel, or a hacksaw (though you'll need sandpaper if you use the latter) and mount a fan yourself.
