FANS: Top vs. rear exhaust

I'm looking at getting a Lian-Li PC60 for my new build which will contain an SATA HD and maybe an IDE drive as well, Intel 2.8c / ABIT IS7, an older video card (not too hot) and an Antec True430. I'm concerned about heat & airflow and I'm wondering if the top fan (which I assume is normally an exhaust) makes up for the fact that there's only one 80mm rear exhaust fan. I've asked about it within a few Gen. Hardware threads but I figured this would be the place to really find out...

Thanks.

your system doesn't sound that hot. the lian li isn't that well ventilated, but it'll do for your system.

The top fan is for exhaust.
Many rigs are just fine with one or no exhaust fans(except for psu exhaust). I think you'd be fine with just one exhaust, and if you use both you should be just fine with a couple low noise/rpm fans. If you use two exhaust fans though, you may want to have a 3rd for an intake if there is a space for it in the bottom front. Otherwise it'll suck in air from any little holes it can, and thus full them with dust....

The PC60 actually has two 80mm intakes in the front and I believe there is a speed switch for them. So it sounds like I'll probably be OK.

if your running a 450+ watt ps and have more then 2 5.25" drives mounted in there close to the top, id say go for a porthole only after you have already established good front to rear flow... the portohole will only help hot air stuck in the top of the case to get out

I think the drives actually mount pretty low in that case, with the intakes blowing right on them. I just can't figure out if there's actually a top fan in the PC60 - I don't think there is.

The stock PC-60 comes with a 80mm blowhole. You CAN mount drives in the cage that rides in front of the intakes, but the case comes with room for two drives below the floppy (if you still mount a floppy that is).
