fans not turning off...

hi. i just had a quick question. when i put my computer on standby, the fans don't turn off. is there any way to fix this? thanks.

Standby is not the same as off. If the fans never spin down then your system is generating enough heat to keep them going. If you want to have the fans spin down/off, then turn off the computer instead of using standby.

I never use standby. My system is either running or not. If I need it to do something later (like recording some tv before I get home), I leave it on. Otherwise, when it's not in use, it's off.

I suspect the OP's system is in hibernate mode, not standby. Standby writes the current contents of RAM to the HDD and powers the system off. I have my baby set to standby after 2-hours of no use and it works like a charm. All I have to do is touch a key and I'm back up in about 15-seconds, right where I left off.
