Fans not stopping

I used to have a Dell PC which I donated and build my first new PC recently. Now in my old PC when i put it in sleep mode, the screen would blankout and the fans would also stop and when I moved the mouse or stuck a key the pc came back to life again. But in my new pc(both the PCs running on WinXP) when I put it in sleepmode, the screen will blankout but all the fans are whizzing. Why don't the fans stop in sleep mode. Am I doing any mistake, and how can I solve this. Thanks for any feedbacks.
:disgust:

It depends on the motherboard as to weather or not the fans stop. When my gigabyte board goes in to sleep mode the fans stop, my asus board with the same chipset and cpu, the fans don't stop.

There are different sleep mode options in your BIOS (I don't know if a Dell motherboard allows you to access them or not).

In one sleep mode in my BIOS (Gigabyte motherboard), the fans will still spin in sleep mode. In another mode, everything powers down.
