subject says it all. this is a fresh install on a new hard drive after swapping out parts. after hitting the "turn off" button in windows, it goes through the normal routine to shutdown. the familiar log off chime & then the monitor shuts off.
however, all my fans including the cpu fan & the mobo leds are still on. if i press & hold the power button, nothing happens. it should turn off completely, but it doesn't. i have to manually flip the switch on the back of the case to turn everything off.
as far as i can tell, all the wires are connected. software installation went through without a hitch. i looked this up in some forums & some said it could be cool'n quiet but it doesn't help after i uninstalled it. the sata drive is installed in the sata1 black slot. i think that's the silicon slot. i didnt install the nvidia ide sw driver or the other nforce driver. i can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. ill get that tomorrow.
i've already given away some of my old parts so i cant test everything. will finish that tomorrow. so far the acpi doesn't seem to be the problem. also disabled most of the features & that still doesn't work. i've yet to update the bios or the chipset drivers.
this is a computer with new & used parts.
asus a8n-sli premium -new
amd 3800 x2 - new
corsair xms 2x512 - old
seagate sata 160 - new
bfg 6600 gt - old
coolermast rs-450-acly - old
antec p180b - new
if anyone knows whats going on, please help. i am pretty sure this has already mucked up something in my computer.
