I have a great Leadtek vivo Geforce Ti4200 video card. I still barely hear the GPU fan, so I want all of your recommendations for a replacement vid card (vivo not required) that also supports the following:

DX9,
Fanless,
STABLE with the least amount of conflicts.
1600x1200 <--must do this res at High quailty and As high as possible refresh rates.

Computer Specs:

Shuttle SN45G
Maxtor 120GB diamondmax 9
Maxtor 160GB diamondmax 9
Samsung 352B cdrw/dvd
Leadtek Winfast A250 Ti4200
RME-Hammerfal PCI pro-audio card

try a 5900np with a zalman z80 - whilst you could get an ATI card I personally wouldnt recommend the hassle having moved from a ti500 gef3 to a 9600pro recently and having lots of problems.

would a zalman heatpipe fit on the card inside a shuttle case..? :Q

i think the sapphire 9600 pro ultimate might be fitting. it has a heatpipe cooler as well, but its many times smaller than the z80a

Pics

Also, i belive many of the radeon 9500 and 9700 fans are inaudiable compared to a gf4 fan

This 9600 pro looks fantastic! no fan :). How much faster is this card compared to my leadtek vivo and will this ATI 9600 card cause headaches and conflicts in my sytem? I'm assumign it also has DX9 features?

great..now I can't get it. I don't want any headaches. Mingon, what is the stock core and memory timings? You are using the fanLESS 9600 pro correct?

I am using a sapphire 9600pro stock 400/300 with a zalman z80a heatsink installed. I had 'lots' of problems and had to do a complete re-install and then install in a certain pattern to get it working OK.

"working OK" what's the difference between it working OK and working perfectly? What's wrong? Also, I wanted to sell my Geforce4 Ti4200 Vivo and with that money get a Fanless Saphire 9600 pro ultimate, but that's almost $200 :Q.

As in its Ok, but I get some problems in games which requires patches, more so than I did with my ti4200 - but perhaps I am just unlucky.

I would recommend radeon 9500 Pro cause its much faster than 9600 Pro and also supports Direct X9

INemtsev,
can you please link me to benchmarks comparing Ati 9500 pro vs. 9600 pro? Doesn't the 9600pro use .13 Micron, whereas 9500 pro uses larger Micron = more heat/power?

doh! Thanks Vegetto. The 9600 Pro is better for me since it runs cooler and performs well when overclocked. I might just go with this, unless it will give me conflicts and headaches with my Shuttle SN45G?

I dont see any reason why it might cause problems, but thats just speculation. Seems like the situation is swing or miss right now and you're going to have to try and see

And fortunately for you, someone on the FS/FT forums is selling a Sapphire Atlantis ATI RADEON 9600 PRO ULTIMATE :)

Hope you solve your video card woes :D

The card linked above is only $175 now???

A regular 9600 Pro with a fan, which I have read in reviews is quieter than the fan on a Ti4200, can be had for around $150.

I want the one without the FAN. $175 is too much, but $150 is doable. I was thinking of getting a 9700 pro, but I hear they get quite hot especially in the Shuttle case.

The card is $170 now (falling fast!). You might be able to make a deal if you're quick about it.
