Regarding the philosophical argument: None of us have the right to tell others how to spend their money. So whatever your opinion may be, ultimately it's a futile excercise. But if it makes you feel better to nerdrage, then so be it.

Having said that, it might be valuable to take a moment to think about your reaction if/when someone else is equally judgmental about what *you* think is right and proper. 'cos from my position here on the fence, some of the strongest critics appear to have the exact personality types to react the most strongly if/when they were on the receiving end of similar criticisms.
