Was wondering what is meant when you can changet the volts of a fan to 7V by combining the 12V & 5V wires??? I might have phrased that wrong, but it's something along those lines :).....

Is there two wires per fan>?

Ordinarily a fan has three wires going to it: red for +12V, black for ground, and yellow for rpm monitoring. If you wire it up so instead of ground, you put a 5V wire, the fan will subtract the difference and run at 7V. In other words, replace the black wire with a 5V wire, and the fan will run at 7V.

Ouch..........

since I don't know how to solder, then I guess this is not a viable option :-D hehe

Is there a solder gun "modders" use most? I should look into this :)

you don't need to if you don't know how/ have the tools

you can just cut teh wires and strip off the coating with a knife/sissors and twist them together nad put some electical tape around it... no matter what you do make sure you never give anything else 7v later on... giving a harddrive 7v would be very bad.

oh yea I also saw some store that sold a cable premade for 7v fans, for like $1.50 or whatever... you can search around for it, i have no idea where it was
