Fan Trouble

I took a fan out of an old power supply and tried to put it in my case. It has a red and a black wire. I bought a Y power adapter from radio shack and tried to splice the wires together. The fan spins for a split second, and then stops. Any suggestions?

Could be the fan's reached the end of its life? Turn it on, then once it stops, start it spinning again with your finger. IF that does the trick, then the bearings have worn down and you need to buy a replacement.

Go back to Radio Shack and get a real fan. They make some good ones that move a lot of air. Look in their commercial catalog for the full selection. I hooked up an A/C fan of theirs as an exhaust fan and it keeps me cool too !!
