Well the title says it all. 2 of my case fans are doing it. It feels like there is very little air being sucked in but virtually no air being thrown out. 1 is a Sunon fana dn one is a Panaflo 12L. Whatever is happening it isn't creating the nice case environment i used to have, as my case used to hover around 27C now its hovering around 35C. Just taking the side of the case off drops it down to 29C. Usually when i would take the side off it would get higher as i wouldn't have the windtunnel i used to have.

Are they spinning at lower RPMs? Less voltage supplied to fans now than before?

I dont know about Voltage, the most accurate thing i have access to right now is either my BIOS or Asus Probe. Also These Panaflos aren't RPM senseing so i cant be sure if they are spinning any faster or slower.

BIOS says the Voltages are looking OK staying within .1 volt up or down, however i dont know about RPM as i cant check. Also the Panaflo fan that i am having problems with to get it to work in a 3 pin slot when it cane with a 2 pin connecto i just ripped off the end connector off of that fan and a 3pin fan and jammed it on the end and duck taped it together..., Yeah probably not the best solution lmao. I have new fan leads on their way so they will be good as new, will that likely help or is the fan screwed up.

Are your fans quieter than before? Hmm... The only thing i can think of that would lessen airflow while keeping the fan blades going is a lowering in voltage for that fan/ inline resistor/ rheobus etc.

Its completely stumped me. Although i cant accurately read voltage especially since the panaflo fan is plugged into the motherboard.

Could i have scewed something up if i put the wire in the wrong spot when i ripped hte connectors off?

Not sure if you screwed anything up. With the panaflo, i guess try the new connection when it comes in. I have now Idea why your sunon would be messing up. I doubt your sunon is of the temperature sensing type. Do you perhaps have an Antec power supply and hooked it up to the Fan only connector?

As for the panaflo, perhaps something is acting like a resistor in your wiring of the fan. Although Im not quite sure.

Do you have another computer you can try your sunon in? Is there excess dust in the fans? hmm...

are these 80mm fans? somethings the mobo header doesn't provide enough current. have you tested with other fans?

Short answer: Yes.

If you have the wires across the red and yellow wires from the power supply, then you would only be getting 7V across the fan as opposed to the 12V it is designed for. If you have have it connected to the red and black wires , then you are only getting 5V. Either of these conditions would indeed cause the fan to spin slower and push less air. Just be sure that you have it connected across a yellow and black wire in order to get the full 12V.

Dude, its a 3 pin plug, isnt the yellow wire just the RPM sensing wire?

I mean no offense, but that sure sounds like when I had filters on my case and they were totally clogged with dust. Maybe a filter or dust accumulation behind your faceplate?
The fans in your power supply still working? Temps increase in a hurry when one of those puppies goes down.

Only way to know for sure the status of your panaflos is to hook them up with your new connectors. I would even try them on a molex connector (That is....if you have an adapter ) That way you know for sure than they are getting 12v.

doesn't make sense. fan at low rpm is noticably slow. fan facing wrong direction is obvious. fan clogged by dust is obvious. if nothings changed, then its all in your head. dying fans makea racket.

Hey i got the Sunon fan working. Well just laugh and call me a noob because i noticed when i felt airon my foot that i put that one in the wrong way.

As to the panaflo fan i dont know what to do. I looked at it and it is definately spinning at a slower RPM however i dont know hwo to fix it. Is it in the wrong pins or something.

THe panaflo problem is less bad, which is good imo. Im glad you found out about your sunon. Everybody makes mistakes :D

Anyways, you might have to rewire your panaflo. I made sure I bought my panaflos with the 3pin fan tails to avoid the problem you are having.

I guess either, live with your quieted version of the fan, or try switching the cabling around. There are only a small amount of combinations you can wire the fan after all :p

I just switched the wiring around when i ripped the 3 pin connector off. I am ordering more tails especially because it looks stupid with electrical tape, and i dont like that kind of shoddy worksmanship i pulled.

So all i did was put the blue wire on the other side of the red wire and its spinning at full speed again. Now the only thing i can here are my sunons which will be gone soon and replaced with panaflos, does anyone know where i can get a 92mm Panaflo fan low or medium speed, everywhere i look they are sold out.

those panaflos you seek have been sold out for a long time at most places. I found some at Frozencpu, but they make sure you pay for it. Also, they come untailed. You have to pay even more to get them with 3pin.

Good luck!

I found some for ya....
Digi-Key is a direct distributer of Panaflo fans and they have both in stock.
Their ordering system really sucks though so I will link you to the fans.

Here is the L1A as I type they have 1121 in stock. FBA09A12L1A
and here is the M1A (4510 in stock)FBA09A12M1A

<edit> Forgot to mention if you order less than 5 they are 8.25 ea. (They give good price breaks for bulk orders)

They used to have the 3 pin connectors, but I don't see them now.....
You can get them @ casecooler.com for a buck each though....
