Fan speed controls

Since I live in a dorm room at the moment, I have my computer only about 5 feet away from my bed and the noise from the fans are a pain in the ass to fall asleep to.. since I'd like to be able to leave my computer on over night from time to time.
I was just wondering if getting something like a "Rheobus" or a "Hardcano" from Thermaltake would do the job.. since I would lower the fan speed and hopefully reducing the noise..

Wish I could water cool but don't think I have the time or money to set that up..

probably would do the job, although of course reducing fan speed means less airflow... Dunno what the prices of those are there but I took a look at them in UK and looks cheaper, and possibly better to just get quieter & more efficient fans, hence reducing noise with less impact on airflow. There's quite a lot of "low noise" fans kicking about now, since quiet PC's seem to be getting more of the spotlight.

http://www.gizzo.8m.com/fans/ might help you select a quiet fan that performs well enough. Other things to look at are vibration of the case etc... rubber washers can make some difference, got some on their way to me together with a couple of Evercool low noise fans...
