Fan sounds weird

I've just built my new rig, A64 3200+ w/ stock cooler, 1GB RAM, GF6600GT PCIe, Maxtor 200GB HD, Antec TruePower 480W.

It sounds kind of weird, it's this low humming noise. There's one fan that sounds normal to me, and one that gives off a low "MMMMM" sound instead of the airy "SHHHH". I know this description is poor - and maybe this is how it should be - but I can't help wondering if something isn't tightened enough in the case. Thing is, I can't add any more screws to the hard drive.

I don't think it's the DVD player, because it usually doesn't play constantly, and its LED wasn't on.

Anyone think I should worry? I could have nudged the CPU fan some during assembling the rig (it's my second - my first was in 2001) but not very hard at all. The hard drive has been well treated.

Touch the hub of the fan. If it's surprisngly warm you might have an issue. If not, don't worry about it, but check it every so often. Do you know what type of fan it is?

find the source of the noise. take out the fan, remove the fan itself from the fan mounting (fins from housing), flip it over and clean the bearings inside. replace, replace, restart computer

Or, if touching/pressing the fan hub changes the pitch of the sound, it's probably the bearings. Get a good quality ball bearing fan, or a Panaflo hydrowave bearing fan. Those bearing types generally last a long time.
