Is there a way to use a 92mm fan with a case opening that only is supposed to hold a 80mm fan? I am interested in getting a new exhust fan for my Lian Li PC60, but the spot for the fan is only big enough for a 80mm. Can I buy adapters for larger fans or will I just have to get a 80mm?

Thanks,
Swan

I've studied the Lian Li PC60 and the Coolermaster 201 and it looks like all the fans can be modded to 92mm if the holes are just widened a little cause there is space for it. Looks like a easy, worthy mod to do for both of these cases, cause you get alot more air out of 92mm fans over 80mm and still be pretty quiet. The bigger the fan the slower the blades have to move, and the bigger the motor the deeper and less noticable noise there is.

Which holes would need to be modded? The screw holes? I'm sorta confused here:confused:

If there's a little fan housing permanently attached to the inside of the case, you can cut it off. After that's done just drill holes where you want to mount the fan (four holes corresponding to each of the four corners of the fan). Make sure the case is completely empty and is totally clean afterwards.
